uticaclub Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Against the jets 230 of tyrods 297 came from bombs or garbage time
dave mcbride Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) When you pull within 6 with over 2 minutes to go, there's no garbage time. Onside kicks have a 20 percent success rate. Edited September 20, 2016 by dave mcbride

Fadingpain Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 The OP's point remains however. Tyrod's stats were heavily skewed because of a few long bombs. His play by play performance was pretty bad and consistent with Week 1. That's the alarming part, even if it was great to see those bombs connect!
Kirby Jackson Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Not to derail this conversation but why are we including bombs with garbage time? The bombs put 2 important touchdowns on the board and are a focal part of the offense. If you want to take out that last drive go for it, but excluding the deep balls is beyond ridiculous. Because fans are sick of the famine that comes with being a feast or famine offense.
Prickly Pete Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) And what's the success rate, post recover, for scoring a TD with the amount of time on the clock (not sure, under 2 minutes?)? And how many timeouts did the Bills have left. All factors in how the Jets approach defending the Bills late in the game. And lo and behold, it worked out fine for the Jets. Tyrod blew, and the stats don't tell the story. Edited September 20, 2016 by HoF Watkins

Because they were lucky shots. Not sustainable, not going to win games week in and week out.
dave mcbride Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Cool, he just needs to get a little bit better! Not saying he played well (or anything at all about his play, actually); just pointing out that there really wasn't any garbage time in that game.
Kirby Jackson Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Because fans are sick of the famine that comes with being a feast or famine offense. The point is there was feast as well.
dave mcbride Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Because they were lucky shots. Not sustainable, not going to win games week in and week out. When a QB hits on deep bombs a dozen or so times over a sustained period, when does it stop being lucky and start being recognized as part of his skill set?
CountDorkula Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 The point is there was feast as well. The bills offense is turned into Chuck and Pray! Most of the time that does not work. We are back to JP Losman at QB.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 When a QB hits on deep bombs a dozen or so times over a sustained period, when does it stop being lucky and start being recognized as part of his skill set? Was going to ask the same. Weren't the Bills atop the league last year in 20+ yard TDs?
CountDorkula Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 When a QB hits on deep bombs a dozen or so times over a sustained period, when does it stop being lucky and start being recognized as his only skill set? Fixed
MAJBobby Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Because fans are sick of the famine that comes with being a feast or famine offense. Was it a feast or famine offense because of the newly fired OC or QB. that question will be answered soon
dave mcbride Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Was going to ask the same. Weren't the Bills atop the league last year in 20+ yard TDs? yup. He has his limitations, and they are serious ones. But he is actually good at some things.
Kirby Jackson Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Because they were lucky shots. Not sustainable, not going to win games week in and week out. Oh, well that's a new explanation. I guess that I didn't factor in that "they were lucky shots." That's a really excellent explanation. All this time I thought that an offense that hits the deep ball as well as any team in the league, finding maybe the fastest player in the league downfield was planned. I didn't realize that it was dumb luck. Excuse my ignorance then...
dave mcbride Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Fixed It's hardly his only skill set. He rarely turns the ball over, he's good at making plays outside the pocket, and he's a great runner. Denying this amounts to obtuseness.

Denying this amounts to obtuseness. SO he is a Running back that has arm strength? to quote the Raven "We made him be a quarterback" and he failed at it. IMO, the Bills will not win constantly with Taylor at QB, he doesn't see the field or read a defense. He is a one read and then scramble around and hopefully he can find someone to throw the ball at.
