Wayne Cubed Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Disagree for one key reason: Roman called the plays, not Harbaugh!!! Payton called the plays in NO. People forget that Roman did a great job under Harbaugh at Stanford too. Dave, he was tight ends coach at Stanford, he wasn't calling plays. That was David Shaw. Harbaugh brought him with him to SF, when Shaw wouldn't come/got the Stanford HC job. Harbaugh gave him his first OC job in SF. I'm sure Romans playbook is a lot like Harbaughs but that doesn't mean he can call plays and game plan as well as Harbaugh can. So for me the success you are giving Roman in SF, because he was calling play under Harbaughs supervision, can be attributed to Harbaugh.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Don't know about everyone else but I'm excited again! I feel re-energized! let's go buy some tickets! I'll sell you my AZ tickets.
MDH Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 if this was a last year issue for them, i wish we wouldve made the move at the end of last year. day 6 of the season is less than ideal. Yep, this reeks of the firing of Turk Schonert after the final pre-season game in 2009. If they had such an issue with the coordiantor then make the change in the offseason. What did you see in 2 games that you were unaware of after an entire year?
2020 Our Year For Sure Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 if this was a last year issue for them, i wish we wouldve made the move at the end of last year. day 6 of the season is less than ideal. They should have after the season ended but now they have no choice. The quarterback is so out of sorts he can't even hit easy throws anymore. How can we win like that?
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 So the Pegula's hire Rex and now fire the OC? So much for non-meddling owners huh. Yeah... It's starting to look like the same ol dysfunctional
stevewin Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Sarcasm? If not, Russ wins again. I'm sure Russ was campaigning for making Terrel Owens the new OC
Hapless Bills Fan Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 @viccarucci Told Pegulas weren't happy w #Bills offense last yr or this yr. Particularly bothered by poor communication & 3rd down failures. Is Vic thinking the Pegulas instructed Rex to make this move?
26CornerBlitz Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 @AndrewSiciliano 2015 Bills, with now-fired OC Greg Roman, had the best PPG, YPG, yards/play, and pass YPG of any team Rex Ryan has ever had as a head coach.
Wagon Circler Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Isn't this better than being 0-2 with no hope of changes? No sarcasm. I mean it. I don't sarcas.
YoloinOhio Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Isn't this better than being 0-2 with no hope of changes? No sarcasm. I mean it. I don't sarcas. sort of.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 It's their $1B investment - if they want to run it into the ground, it's their right. The Bills are money in the bank, even at $1.4B. They can sell and make a profit anytime they want. Then you know what happens.
What a Tuel Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I imagine we are in the minority here. It was a bad day for the CBs. Rex played some different coverages and those two could not get it done They were just getting straight up beat. Sometimes upfield with no safety help, but other times just stopping and letting Darby Gilmore run right past them. It reminded me of what Sammy did to Revis last year.
The Frankish Reich Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 @AndrewSiciliano 2015 Bills, with now-fired OC Greg Roman, had the best PPG, YPG, yards/play, and pass YPG of any team Rex Ryan has ever had as a head coach. Classic. What, like he was going to fire Rob instead?
CommonCents Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 It's more exciting until we have another guy calling plays and still suck in 10 days. Then the attention will shift towards the head honchos.
YoloinOhio Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 There were a lot of issues with Roman. 2 minute offense, playcalling, slow getting plays in, etc. he's not the only problem though...
John in Jax Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 It's their $1B investment - if they want to run it into the ground, it's their right. I LdOL....but you are 100% correct.
What a Tuel Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 This should give all of you reboot folks hope that if Rex doesn't get it done, he is gone too at the end of the year.
NoSaint Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 @AndrewSiciliano 2015 Bills, with now-fired OC Greg Roman, had the best PPG, YPG, yards/play, and pass YPG of any team Rex Ryan has ever had as a head coach. its really bizarre as the spot to draw the line. if he was worried about inconsistency and the issues mentioned, i dont know how you bring on Rob in the offseason.
Wayne Cubed Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) There were a lot of issues with Roman. 2 minute offense, playcalling, slow getting plays in, etc. he's not the only problem though... I do agree with NoSaint though... should have done it in the offseason then. But yea just because a guy has a good playbook, does not mean he knows how to put a game plan together or coach in-game. Rex is a perfect example of that. Edited September 16, 2016 by Wayne Cubed
dave mcbride Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 So is Dak prescott. There were plenty of quick crossing routes to beasley, and quick outs/ins to witten. If anything you'd think it would help a young QB to have outlet passes to get rhythm. He would be a great fit in Dallas with that running game.
