YoloinOhio Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) Seems like he's facing a big fine, if not a suspension. @profootballdoc That tackle by facemask seemed intentional to prevent TD. More dangerous than horse collar. IMO fine/suspension. Vid below https://twitter.com/tarheelbrady/status/776593954011623425 Edited September 23, 2016 by YoloinOhio

That was dangerous, and Gilmore should pay a price for it, if for no other reason then to know not to do it again. He had a HORRIBLE game and looked lost out there. No heart, no drive, doesn't care.
The Frankish Reich Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I agree -- he grabbed the face mask because it was the only way to prevent a TD, which was justifiable in a pure football sense, but which shows that a penalty just isn't enough to discourage that type of dangerous play. So a suspension is really the only thing the NFL can do. It would be warranted just to discourage this type of play.

And I bet the Jets player who made helmet to helmet contact with Tyrod doesn't even get looked at.
NoSaint Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 fine, yes. suspension? no. we have seen far more dangerous plays without suspension, even from repeat offenders. Seems like he's facing a big fine, if not a suspension. id assume the standard issue $20-whatever-thousand fine that we see for these.
Maury Ballstein Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Fine him. Dirty play and an all around sorry performance from him If their guy did it to Watkins we would be livid.
4merper4mer Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I didn't think it was intentional at first but he kept it there. I don't know. I think the safety would have made the tackle though. Oh, wait. What safety?
Nick the Greek Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 It was a dirty play.. But that's what you get when Rex is the coach. No discipline and lots of flags.

Coach Tuesday Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) Gilmore's technique and focus are terrible. He lacks the desire for greatness. Edited September 16, 2016 by Coach Tuesday

I wish I could fine him.

CodeMonkey Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Clearly a very dirty play and inexcusable. Worthy of a suspension IMO.
CommonCents Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Gilmore'a technique and focus are terrible. He lacks the desire for greatness. He is all about the contract. He is not all about contact.

If he's suspended, it highlights the problem with the way the league is handling this overall - very spotty fining and enforcement.
Webster Guy Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 If he keeps playing like this, he would have been wise to sign a reasonable extension with Whaley in the offseason because his value is diving with performances like this...

Did Talib get fined for flipping that WR head over heels by his face mask in last years super bowl? I think it may have been Cotchery, that was as blatant as it gets.
Dr.Sack Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Suspension? He did what was necessary to stop a stronger WR from scoring. I say fine, around $25,000. Move along.
Jerry Christ Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 its happens, guys get over yourself since you all are pissed at his bad game..........I mean for real.
