if we don't tank seriously we might actually beat browns, 49 and rams and probably somehow miami and one other ending up with 8 pick or so. if we trade enough players for picks easy to do and than we can do a 2 year tank to get talent and maybe the franchise QB assuming there is one in college. But the key is any tank MUST Have a solid overall #1 Qb pick

You're absolutely right. The Bills can't afford to draft a Sam Bradford or Ryan Tannehill type. They need to be able to draft someone with the same caliber as Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Newton or Luck.

Now that Roman is fired, it's time to start the Tank job. Fire Whaley and Rex, hire a legitimate football expert to run football operations, start trading older players for draft picks and rebuild this team the right way. Time to go 2-14 for a few years (like back in the 80's) so the Bills can get the top talent from the draft. Finishing between 6-10 and 9-7 has been getting the Bills between 8-19 in the draft order and it hasn't made a difference in 16 years. Time to go belly up!

Damn, and here I thought the Tannehill's and Bradfords were the key. Yeah, let's just draft a Roethlisberger!

...or trade for Romo, go .500 until Lawson, Dareus, and Glenn come back and Watkins foot completely heals.... finish the season on an epic 8-0 run on our way to Sup... oh nevermind.

I said it many times before, it's time to tank. The Bills will not ever be a winning team without a real franchise QB. They haven't been fortunate enough to luck into a great one. With finishing between 6-10 and 9-7, the Bills are too high on the draft board to pick a franchise QB. They need to start over, Tank like the Sabres and have two to three drafts where they are picking in the Top 5 to get some elite players.

who are you tanking for?

Right now, next year's QB class is not strong, so they'll have to tank for at least two to three years to keep getting elite players at various positions to make the team a long term contender. Obviously QB is the greatest need and if the Bills have any realistic chance of competing against Brady & Belichek, then they'll need an elite QB to do it. If it takes two or three years to wait to draft that guy, then so be it. We've waited 17 years, what's another two or three at this point. We need a championship caliber team, not a team that we hope can just make it to the playoffs.

The talent has to be there to do so.

Always #1 talent

who are you tanking for?

Why does that matter now? Tank to get your best draft pick and Rex and company out of here.

This isn't about franchise QB. This is just to get the HC out and give the new HC the best possible draft pick.

Ridiculous post, this isn't the NHL. How many early first round QB's have been a bust? The best rookie QB this year was taken in the 4th round!

Do you honestly feel Dak can out score Brady?

Also, the Bills need as many elite players as possible, so tanking would be for more than just for a QB.

Are you still going to go to the games when the team is 3-13 for at least 3 years?

What about if theyre 3-13 for 5 years? What if they don't win any games... Will you all still go?

We sucked under Gailey - and added legit no talent. We have a decent GM, but not a good one. We have a mediocre coach but not a good one. Coaching matters more in this sport than in any other. The best coaches already have jobs.

It doesn't matter how long the Bills suck/tank for, they need elite players in the draft and in order to do that, you need to stink for a while. Sabres fans did, Bills fans did it in the 80's, so it can be done again.

You feel that all you need is a good coach, to a certain extent, yes. But, any coach needs a good QB. Look at Belichek in Cleveland and how he fared there compared to how he's doing in NE with Brady. Look at Del Rio in Jacksonville with the QB's he had compared to how he's doing in Oakland with Carr. If Rex had a good QB, the Bills would be a playoff team.

Identify a QB to target via trade or the draft and do what it takes to acquire him. No need to tear down the assembled talent on the team that's good enough to win with.

If that's possible than I'm all for it. But if not, then you have to tank it. Trade players away for high draft picks, lower the Bills salary cap by getting a bunch of rookies and build a long term contender.

The Bills don't need to tank.

Carr was drafted at the top of the second round. The Bills passed on him.

Russell Wilson was drafted in the third round. The Bills passed on him.

Dak Prescott was drafted in the fourth round so we would have needed to take him with a third round pick. The Bills passed on him.

The Broncos after winning the SB moved back into the first round to take Paxon Lynch. The Bills passed on him. Is he going to be any good? Who knows? At least he is on the Bronco roster and they will soon find out.

The Bills are a systemically mediocre organization because they make the same moronic mistake thinking that they can get by without aggressively pursuing qb talent.

Kirk Cousins was drafted in the fourth round in the same draft year that the Skins took Griffin with a top pick. The Bills passed on Cousins.

You don't want to tank in football. Takes too long to rebuild and ala Browns, even when you draft high they don't always pan out.

The Bills have talent. If they see a QB they like, then trade what they have to trade to get him. We are not so far away...coulda' beaten Seattle and Oakland in their house.

Very disappointed with the posters on this site because it is clear you have an agenda or simply dont know the game. We will win the rest of our games by an average of 45 pts. They will not give up a single point in the playoffs. And the offense will average 85 pts in the playoffs in the greatest run ever in superbowl history and if you dont agree you just dont know the game. Rex, Russ, and Doug should get lifetime contracts at a minimum of 50 million a year.

For every Carr, Wilson and Prescott, there's a Trent Edwards, Ryan Nassib and Mike Glennon. The Bills haven't been that lucky to draft a QB in the lower rounds and he turns out to be a franchise QB. Nobody has filled Jim Kelly's shoes yet and it's coming up on 20 years since he last took a snap as the Bills starting QB.

It worked for the Colts [Luck], Raiders and looks like it's working for the Bucs and Titans.

The tank don't seem to be working for the Sabres right now. Won't be playoffs for them either

In the NFL, don't you have to meet a certain level of payroll? That kind of stops you from tanking. Unless you pay a lot to a bunch of idiots..............oh wait........

Is Pegula going to fire his GM after giving him an extension like he did with the Sabres?

The honeymoon is over folks. The Pegulas have no idea what they are doing.

Yes, I would imagine Whaley's days are indeed numbered...and yes...Pegula does not come across like a particularly bright guy, he is the least informed "big sports fan" you know of, and hockey is his thing, not football.

It may take a while for the ship to be righted in O.P.

I have higher hopes for the Sabres, though even that rebuild is showing signs of weaknesses far beyond the key injuries we suffered through to start the season.

The talent has to be there to do so.

This is true, but a "tank" or a very high draft pick need not be limited to only a QB.

If you are tanking strictly to get a franchise QB, your tank may well fail.

If you are tanking to load the team with talent at key positions, it is likely to work quite well, even if "misses" are always a part of the game.

Our best player is arguably Marcell Dareus, who also came to us as the 3rd overall pick in the 2011 draft...our highest pick in many years.

That draft saw Cam Newton go #1, Von Miller #2, Marcell #3, and AJ Green #4.

Would any of those guys help us win games? I would think so.

Super top talent is always available at the very top of the draft.

It is not always a QB though.
