SDS Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 "We've got a list, said Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley, of six positions were going to pay. The positions: quarterback, left tackle, and a playmaker on offense; a cornerback, a pass rusher, and a playmaker on defense. There are 22 starters on a football field, and the Bills strategy calls for paying big money to six of them. The team has more than six significant veteran contracts on the books at the moment because it stockpiled assets while long avoiding paying a franchise quarterback, but When Tyrod [Taylors contract] hits, Whaley said, we wont be able to have extra guys. The rest is up for us to draft well to replenish the rest of the roster, or find free agents who are very, very cost effective. Because you just cant pay everyone."

QB Bills Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) There are many ways to skin a cat. The fact that the guy in charge of the roster thinks in simplistic terms like this is troubling, to say the least. Edited September 12, 2016 by QB Bills
Coach Tuesday Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Sounds like the high vet minimum is the issue...
SDS Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 Sounds like the high vet minimum is the issue... Or the rookie salaries are too low to pass up.
Wayne Arnold Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Good thing we waited for Taylor to "hit." Oh wait...
baskingridgebillsfan Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 There are many ways to skin a cat. The fact that the guy in charge of the roster thinks in simplistic terms like this is troubling, to say the least. Simplistic ? We pay corners , pass rushers , above average d lineman quarterbacks , left Tackle and offensive play makers. Sounds absolutely correct. Would you rather say we pay Inside backers , guards, and kickers ?
Big Turk Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Sounds like the high vet minimum is the issue... No it's not because teams get a break by signing them...only hit the cap for 600K
GunnerBill Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 It is generally the right approach. On that basis you can't pay McCoy and Clay... you can maybe afford one of them.
