OldTimer1960 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Or good players just beat you regardless. The Bills all know what Brady is and what his tendencies are. He just beats you because he is better. Tyrod is a middle of the road guy and you are going to get good and ugly. We saw it last year and I expect this year to be the same. You might be being generous calling him middle of the road. Midling QB play would have won today's game. Even Fitz never laid an egg like that. Edited September 12, 2016 by OldTimer1960
Agent 91 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I agree about the lack of weapons. Besides Watkins, nobody on the Bills scares defenses. Woods IMO is not a legitimate #2 WR, he's a good #3. A good #2 WR should be able to get 800-1000 yards receiving and between 8-10 TDs a season, Woods numbers haven't been anywhere close to that. Did you mean just receivers or are you overlooking McCoy on purpose?
4merper4mer Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Was it because his old coach knew what to do? Was it because his current coach doesn't know what to do?

Was it because his current coach doesn't know what to do? Could be a combo of both. While Rex barely played the starters in preseason to avoid injuries, it doesn't look like a smart move as the offense was terrible and out of sync today.

I just heard Sal C. on WGR550 say the Ravens defense tried to make Tyrod look like a QB, that's very bad news for the Bills if other teams are able to replicate that each week against Taylor. Even Fitz never laid an egg like that. right, and lucky we have more than one game to think about in that evaluation, because otherwise it would be pretty worrisome. im guessing we see tyrod complete some deep balls and even scramble again at some point in his career, and he will look at times electric. he has the tools to be at the top of the league, but not the consistency. we will see if he puts it together, or if he ends up a place holder while we continue the search. I agree. I just heard Sal C. on WGR550 say the Ravens defense tried to make Tyrod look like a QB, that's very bad news for the Bills if other teams are able to replicate that each week against Taylor. which defensive coordinator didnt want to do that last year?
Wayne Arnold Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 With Taylor being a backup for Baltimore for four years, it seems the Baltimore D was more than prepared for him today. Taylor was not his usual self as he hurried a lot of his throws resulting in incompletions and seemed to be stuck on just his first reads. IMO, playing against his old team got the better of Taylor today. It speaks volumes that the Ravens' game-plan was to "make Taylor be a quarterback." They spent four years developing him and didn't make a huge push to retain him. There's not much respect for Taylor as an NFL Quarterback in that franchise. Looks like they were right about him.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Sure. He needs another excuse.Excuses or reasons? Do you want to know what went wrong or do you just want to assume everything?

PolishDave Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I think the fact that the Bills were playing the Ravens had a lot to do with Tyrod's poor performance. Harbaugh knows Tyrod's weaknesses better than anybody and he exploited them. I don't think we will see Tyrod play that poorly again in another game this year (at least not mentally). It seems to me that Tyrod was beat mentally in this game more so than physically. But one thing that really bothers me about that game is that other teams (if they're smart) will learn how to defend better against Tyrod. And that will be a problem at various points in our near future. Tyrod has to adapt and improve or he won't make it in this league long.

Taylor was not his usual self as he hurried a lot of his throws resulting in incompletions and seemed to be stuck on just his first reads. IMO, playing against his old team got the better of Taylor today. I think it very likely had some impact. Not only is this his old team, but these are the guys he practiced against every week for 4 years as the scout team QB. It reminded me of the Den-Car SB where it came out the Broncos D was keying off the Carolina Center - he had a characteristic head bob just before the snap so they were like Bob-GO!!!! That's a macro tell, but they saw enough of Tyrod that he may have micro-tells they could key on. If so, the best hope is that one of them is still friends enough with Tyrod to clue him. But that's just conjecture. I think the fact that the Bills were playing the Ravens had a lot to do with Tyrod's poor performance. It seems to me that Tyrod was beat mentally in this game more so than physically. The thing is, if Harbaugh can find and exploit Tyrod's weaknesses, every team watching film of the Bills-Ravens game will be seeing the blueprint now. Could be a combo of both. While Rex barely played the starters in preseason to avoid injuries, it doesn't look like a smart move as the offense was terrible and out of sync today. Frankly, it reminded me of a 1st or 2nd preseason game. Ryan over-practiced the O starters last year resulting in a lot of key injuries. This year he went to the other extreme. It seemed as though Taylor didn't trust his pocket and the RBs didn't trust their holes. Everyone was out of sync. I think the preseason is too long, but the fact is, other teams play their starters in preseason for a reason, to help shake the rust off and rebuild that cohesion and timing. Trust Rex to move the Bills preseason game 1 to opening weekend. Edited September 12, 2016 by Hapless Bills Fan
