BillsBytheBay Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) The Bills/Whaley appear to be absolutely clueless when it comes to QBs. They gave Fitz a big contract for who knows why. They did the same for Tyrod even though he had a year left to prove himself first. At least they can get out of his contract if he doesn't improve. did you really just say that they're clueless for protecting themselves against a potentially bad situation that they obviously learned from previously and created a creative contract to safeguard from?Fitz through 31 touchdowns last year. And he was definitely the better quarterback between him and Tyrod yesterday until the interception he threw. Edited September 12, 2016 by JaxBills

How much further along would we be if we had just stuck with Fitz? No drafting EJ in the 1st round (maybe 4th or 5th), no giving the store away for Sammy... ah, what might have been...

Heitz Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 First play of the game. Ouch. Probably woulda helped the passing stats O_O https://twitter.com/YardsPerPass/status/775456292748025856/photo/1

It happens all the time. My oldest son is a Cincy fan and AJ Green is open on almost every play. Daulton has a habit of checking down often too. Without even looking. Not as bad as the play above, but it happens. Edited September 12, 2016 by r00tabaga

They learned. Just doesn't seem too clueless to me.

CardinalScotts Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 its all about protection...o -line was whipped and blitz pick up non existent its not tyrod
Heitz Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted this in another thread, but https://twitter.com/YardsPerPass has several more break downs up now with some good insights. Definitely a lot of missed opportunities out there on the field.
TSOL Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Heres a CRAZY theory. Maybe, just maybe, QB's in the NFL take awhile to develop. As insane as it might be, judging a QB on 14-16 games, then deciding to cast him off, and declare him a bust, might NOT be the best method of finding a franchise guy? Just throwing that out there. But yeah, EJ sucks and now, apparently so does Tyrod. Next up?

But yeah, EJ sucks and now, apparently so does Tyrod. Next up? 4 years backing up a solid starting QB in Baltimore. 1 season as a starter. Another off-season in the same system. Still can't see the field, read defenses, or make basic throws. That seems to be a common theme over the past 10 years. The NFL doesn't give QB's 4-5 years to hopefully develop and the rules certainly favor them getting up to speed faster, particularly PI calls and roughing penalties. Meanwhile, other QB's are demonstrating early they can play in the league. On a weekend Buffalo's QB was missing sideline and checkdown throws, Jimmy Garoppolo, Carson Wentz (albeit vs. Cleveland), Derek Carr, Blake Bortles, Trevor Siemian, Jameis Winston, and Marcus Mariota were showing with less than 3 years starting experience how someone can excel without lengthy experience.
K-9 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 What's the acceptable number? 1,000 pass attempts has long been an unofficial barometer. But theres a lot more to QBing than passing the ball, as TT showed in Sunday. Too many plays he didn't even bother to survey the defense, let alone get in and out of better or worse plays. GO BILLS!!!

They get better the more they play. Fitz is a perfect example. A Buffalo cast off, declared useless, now had a career year for a division rival last year and poised to take them to the playoffs this year. Buffalo fans collective social media campaign of running players out of here is... Gross. Let them play the ******* game.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I'm worried about Tyrod at this point. Sammy only is a factor if he's wide open for a streak down the field You should be worried about Tyrod. If the OL and Felton don't get their sh*t together fast, he's gonna get himself kilt. And I'm not talking plaid and Scotsmen

And I'm not talking plaid and Scotsmen If he could read a defense pre snap and know where to throw the ball, the olines average play wouldn't be an issue.
Heitz Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Let them play the ******* game. I think the good news is that no matter what TBD or social media says, the Bills are going to! Let's Go Tyrod - this is your chance, make it happen...
Heitz Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 This is a good thing? I didn't say that Good? Bad? He's the guy with the gun...
