GunnerBill
FWIW, from PFF earlier this year: https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-top-5-free-agent-guards-and-centers/ The problem is Velasco since then has looked horrid at centre and not much less horrible at guard. I think the chances are Lewis is here to be a specialist backup centre. Whether that means they keep an additional backup interior guy (likely Groy) I don't know at this stage, but they liked Velasco as a swing guy and he has been a major disappointment. I took away the fact that they had nothing really on Velasco in the last couple of years but that Lewis has shown some flashes of good play throughout games (like week 13 last year). That plus his age (and Velasco's preseason play) makes him a much more desirable option.
Blokestradamus
What I got from my Danish Seahawks fan Magnus - he's seen every snap he's played in Seattle. @BendixenNFL 14h14 hours ago @StephenCulley Not scared at all. He's not a world beater, but he helped stabilize the Seahawks OL in the 2nd half of last season @BendixenNFL 14h14 hours ago @StephenCulley He is not going to win you games, but he won't lose them for you either Edited September 1, 2016 by Blokestradamus
YoloinOhio
I hope they get Intel on Seattle's offense from him. Yes I know we aren't winning that game but a close game/non-beatdown on national tv would be appreciated. Saxum
How can anyone possibly criticize this move? I mean, without sounding like an idiot? Check with Buffalo Snews writers; they are experts. section122
I don't think a win is that improbable. I think that is the hardest game on the schedule. Prime time in that stadium will be loud and they are a very talented team.
HuSeYiN_NYC
Check this out. I NEVER thought Kujo would amount to anything. He made Ed Wang look like a Hall of Famer at times. But if this coaching staff can make Kujo look as good as he has this season, I'm not thinking anything negative about this pickup. I mean, plus it's only for depth reasons. We're not expecting him to start. It is what it is. A solid pickup for cheap.
Saxum
If it was a waiver pickup I am not sure it is cheap. The Seahawks re-signed Lewis to a one-year, $1.671 million contract back in April and if Bills assumed the contract that is a lot more than a veteran minimum contract. There was no signing bonus so Bills are absorbing entire cost. The backup will be paid more than the starting 2nd year guard. And if the Bills brain trust believes the game at Seattle is not winnable (some are not except for massive breakdowns of opposing team and/or extraordinary efforts by Bills) they should keep any dinged players home and treat it like week 2 or 3 of preseason using it get players with less experience game day practice. Some may not like it especially those with incentives in contracts but what is important is overall record not winning this game. After Seahawks the Bills will have a tough game vs Bengals. Saxum
After the Seahawks the Bills will have a bye..... I am aware of the schedule. Just believe the Bengals game is a lot more important than a non-AFC game and it is better to be conservative at that point unless the Bills have no chance of playoffs without that game. It really depends on the brain trust's honest assessment of the team at that point. They could see weaknesses they could exploit.

I can't get on board with knowingly taking an l just because you want to rest some guys especially before the bye. That is absolutely crazy to me. The season is 16 games. The Bills have no chance at playoffs if they mail in 1 of them regardless of their record. Last year the Jets and Steelers both were 10-6 and the Jets stayed home. Wonder how much that is playing in. All the credit is going to Roman but It could be the overall coaching talent on this team.
