BillsWest Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 The 25 yard line rule was strike 1 against Gay. But then when it became apparent in the preseason games that Gay was seemingly incapable of going straight during FG attempts, his fate was sealed. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Southtown Tommy Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 J.Gay is a good guy, him and his wife are active in Moorman's P.U.N.T. Foundation. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere. Carpenter was on fire in training camp and during games and it would have been difficult to unseat him with a very good performance during the Giants pre-season game.
metzelaars_lives Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Odd. How long will carp last? Â Ryan seems not to care much for him ? The dude missed six extra points last year. Was Ryan supposed to be gushing about him? If anything he's shown a lot of confidence in him by bringing him back and now cutting Gay altogether. Edited August 31, 2016 by metzelaars_lives
Wayne Arnold Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) This had better be the end of the Buffalo Bills organization's infatuation with Gay and the last we ever hear about him. Edited August 31, 2016 by Wayne Arnold
eball Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Â I know, it's almost as if the rule was designed with Gay in mind. It's very anti-Gay. Â Â Exactly. Any minute I expect to hear from the LGBTKOS community. Â Well done, gents.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 This had better be the end of the Buffalo Bills organization's infatuation with Gay and the last we ever hear about him. Â Not necessarily. If they get rid of the new 25 yard line touchback rule, he could be back next year.
Blokestradamus Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I tried, Jordan. I really tried. Â Oh well. Special teams will undoubtedly suck this year. #FireCrossman and all that.
eball Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Is anyone else concerned that the result of this transaction is the placement of a Gay bar at the outskirts of the NFL?
Saxum Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gay never had a chance when the league changed the touchback rule to the 25 yard line. Â Â Â I agree. Carrying a KO Specialist simply could not be justified with that rule in place. Â I think they will monitor Carpenter's leg and if kickoffs and if his leg gets tried resign Gay and use him as relief; they would only need to pay him per game. It is unlikely he will be picked up by a team as a regular kicker even in an injury situation,
Augie Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gay never had a chance when the league changed the touchback rule to the 25 yard line. Now, if they needed a specialist to doink the ball off the uprights, he'd have a good shot at a job.

It is unlikely he will be picked up by a team as a regular kicker even in an injury situation, Perhaps. But it seems somewhat unlikely that kicking up to 8 balls a week (in game situations) would really tire out Carpenters leg. There have been a lot of older kickers in the nfl. Now, if they needed a specialist to doink the ball off the uprights, he'd have a good shot at a job. He's almost like the Alex Tanney of kickers.
ALF Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I wonder if Schmidt ever tried KOs ? Â I bet Blokestradmamus would know if it were possible.
Blokestradamus Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) I wonder if Schmidt ever tried KOs ? Â I bet Blokestradmamus would know if it were possible. Â 34 touchbacks on 62 kickoffs at UC Davis. None in the NFL that I'm aware of. Â I know, I'm a fountain of useless ****. Edited August 31, 2016 by Blokestradamus
Original Byrd Man Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Â I know, it's almost as if the rule was designed with Gay in mind. It's very anti-Gay. Are you suggesting the league is Homo-phobic. LOL
Saxum Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Perhaps. But it seems somewhat unlikely that kicking up to 8 balls a week (in game situations) would really tire out Carpenters leg. There have been a lot of older kickers in the nfl.. Up to 8? I think we have seen more of those in games including when they needed to rekick. There was some concern on Carp's leg tiring hence reason for bringing in a 2nd kicker. If the Bills want to preserve his leg they should at a minimum put a kicker on practice squad. Are you suggesting the league is Homo-phobic. LOL Â Better than Homo-philic - sounds like some fatal disease.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I bet we re-sign Gay mid-year. Â Over-under of 8th game.

Nanker Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Well, the Texans put Ka'imi Fairbairn on their Reserve/Injured list yesterday. They're stashing him. So, Cap stays put here.
Tsaikotic Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I was hoping to hear a bit about Humber in this thread but you guys are all full on Gay
CardinalScotts Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Carpenter is healthy and good again, Rex won't F that up
