Doc Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Wait, didn't someone want this guy in the 1st round?
snafu Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Wait, didn't someone want this guy in the 1st round? Yep. I just went back and read that thread. His idea was received about as well as could be expected.
The Frankish Reich Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Straying just slightly off topic, since this reminds me of Jordan Gay, and in turn of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay (and because this just never gets old to me): http://voices.washingtonpost.com/sleuth/2008/07/christian_sites_ban_on_g_word.html
White Linen Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 It's mental warfare being a place kicker. I've said it in another thread - that it really bothers me that Rex is messing with Carp again. You don't do it to kickers unless you absolutely have to for competition purposes.

I've said it in another thread - that it really bothers me that Rex is messing with Carp again. You don't do it to kickers unless you absolutely have to for competition purposes. How is he messing with Carp? Seems to me that Rex gave Gay a shot to prove that he's more than just a kickoff specialist, and Gay failed. Now Carp has a chance to show that he can handle kickoffs in addition to field goals and extra points. I don't seen anything that could be construed as "messing" with Carp.
Beerball Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I don't seen anything that could be construed as "messing" with Carp. me either
Mr. WEO Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Why would anyone consult with a coach who's mental?
Blokestradamus Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 The Bucs put so much pressure on him by taking him when they did. Every miss is going to be met with howls of derision. The chances of him being able to perform well enough that the team can think they're getting a good ROI are next to zero. I hope he can settle down and have a good career. The Bucs also need to be aware that this is a monster they created, they had better support him.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Wait, didn't someone want this guy in the 1st round? Can't believe Tampa traded up for a kicker
machine gun kelly Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Down here the front office is getting killed on the radio for trading up for him. No one wanted this pick in the draft. I still can't believe this 6-10 team that has some talent gave up any picks for a kicker. I like the Bucs, so I really hope he settles down and is a 16 year franchise kicker. It's the only way he was worth this pick.

He is messing with both of them in classic Stalin-esque style, pitting one against the other. Rex likes to do crap like that.

Have a competition for a job at TC? Oh the horror! Imagine if he asked 3 different QBs to compete! Or a couple of wide receivers! What kind of coach would do that?
Wayne Arnold Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Always a great sign when a kicker you spent a 2nd round pick on needs a psychiatrist---errr, a "mental coach" three weeks before his rookie season even begins.

It's the only way he was worth this pick. Shades of Gary Anderson. He tanked the entire preseason - missed EVERY FG attempt. Knox had to cut him and he went on to be absolutely great. If he had made even one FG, Knox could have kept him. G. Anderson
Saint Doug Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 To some, he's a mental coach. To others, he's a shrink.

26CornerBlitz Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 @RCummingsNFL Another miss for Aguayo. This one he kicked into the line. Overall, Aguayo was 3-for-6 on kicks in 11-on-11 work today. #Bucs
