Hardcore Bills Fan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Like it or not New Era Field is the new name. But if a new stadium is coming in less then 10 years why did they waste the money now? You're not going to use the same name twice. The only answer i can come up with is that in 10 years New Era wont be able to afford a long term name for the open air, grass field stadium that'll be built downtown near the waterfront.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The smartest thing Buffalo Bills Ownership has done in the past 2 decades.
Malazan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We've run out of things to be negative about and now we need to question the Bills about the financial viability of a sponsor?
The Wiz Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 New Era is dishing out more money for the naming rights than Ford(5m/yr vs 2m/y) I'm pretty sure they can afford it when a new stadium is built.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I think it's also a gesture to show that One Buffalo goes beyond just the Pegulas.
MarkyMannn Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We've run out of things to be negative about and now we need to question the Bills about the financial viability of a sponsor? HAHA for sure. To the OP, ever bought a New Era cap? They are not running out soon of $$$ with those prices. Yes I know they are only the manufacturer of the cap.................
26CornerBlitz Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Trying to paint a narrative with dirty brushes. Never seen this before.
Wayne Cubed Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Run out of money? The just did $1 billion in revenue for 2015.
Best Player Available Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Apparently the locker room voted for "Zig Zag Field" but were overuled and things like that......
GG Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 You see folks, this is why we're allowed to use the term "idiot" on PPP.
Seasons1992 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Apparently the locker room voted for "Zig Zag Field" but were overuled and things like that...... They couldn't agree on the right versions....orange, wides, the ones with the metal wires.....

Because they want to market to their consumers and keep their brand top of mind NOW, not in 10 years (well, probably in 10 years too), but they're focused on today, not that far in the future. Pretty simple, no going broke theories needed...
machine gun kelly Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Any decent naming rights contract is good for the Bills. If we start winning as a repeat playoff team, we will get more night and nationally televised games. With that the large companies will ok at us in 7 years. Make some money Pegulas. That means your happy and our team stays in Buffalo for decades.

I'm pretty sure that they have the first right of refusal at the new stadium as per this deal. This deal makes sense for them as they got in inexpensively. New Era has plenty of money to continue on at the new stadium should they choose to. They are an NFL partner and a local company. It is a natural fit for all parties.

Chilly Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) They do get first rights. I hate New Era Field. I will love New Era Stadium though as far as names go. Probably saving the better name for the real "New Era" stadium! Edited August 18, 2016 by Chilly
aristocrat Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Ihad no idea the company was 100 years old. I thought it was somewhat new...like 20-30 years.
BaaadThingsMan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Basically free money for the Bills, no brainer. Local company, why the heck not?!
papazoid Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) pilot field, dunn tire park, coca cola field.......as a fan, who cares. rich stadium, the ralph, new era field, new era stadium......as a fan, who cares. Marine Midland Arena, HSBC Arena, and First Niagara Center, KeyBank Center....who cares. if new era thinks it helps them, all the power to em. we know the revenue helps the bills.
