Mike in Horseheads Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Partially correct. The Bills offensive line shuffling started with releasing Dockery who had signed the richest OG contract in the NFL just 2 years before. One Bills Drive filed the paperwork late and wound up owing Dockery a multi-million dollar bonus before cutting him in a rare instance of severance pay in the NFL. Then they traded LT Jason Peters to the Eagles, who I understand went on to have a nice little career for himself. They moved starting RT Langston Walker from right to the left side to fill the hole left by Peters. Then they cut Walker and promoted Demetrius Bell to play LT who would later find out his name is actually Demetress. It was an offseason to remember. But he was Karl Malones kid so he had to be good.
snafu Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Who's talking about being done with the team? Or joining a Jets board? Only you are. This is what's happened in the last 3 months...for a team which stumbled to an 8-8 record in 2015 despite going on a huge spending spree. It was sarcasm. You're overreacting. Did you expect things to go perfectly? Most of your list is completely irrelevant. Do you think the Bills are the only team with issues and setbacks?
RussellDopeland Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 NO,the 1993-94 off-season was the worst in Bills' history: The team was coming off a fourth consecutive Super Bowl loss. They lost long-time starters like Jim Ritcher, Howard Ballard, Nate Odomes, and Mark Kelso. They replaced those players with the likes of Corbin Lacina, Jerry Crafts, Mickey Washington, and Matt Darby. Their top three draft choices were Jeff Burris, Bucky Brooks, and Lonnie Johnson. And to top it off, the greatest player in franchise history was arrested on double-homicide charges.
KD in CA Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 In the span of 3 months, this happened: 1. May: 1st round pick Shaq Lawson, whose shoulder removed him from other teams' boards suffers a shoulder injury during a non-contact drill. He undergoes surgery and will not be able to play until Week 8. 2. May: The same day Lawson's injury is announced, it is revealed Sammy Watkins had foot surgery a month previous and is uncertain for training camp. 3. May: The Bills media policy is made known and widely panned for preventing any record of what players do in practice. Later, the policy is walked back. 4. May: GM Doug Whaley tells WGR 550 radio that football is "a violent game that I personally don't think humans are supposed to play." The team is forced to issue a clarification the following day. 5. July: Karlos Williams shows up 20+ pounds overweight and later is suspended 4 games for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. 6. July: Jonathan Williams, a 2016 5th round pick is arrested for DWI in Arkansas. 7. July: Manny Lawson is injured while working out and misses the beginning of training camp. 8. August: Reggie Ragland, a 2nd round pick the team depended on as an immediate starter, suffers a knee injury and will miss the 2016 season. 9. August: Cordy Glenn suffers a high ankle sprain and will miss the entire pre-season. Expected to be available for week 1. 10. August: Manny Lawson is suspended 1 game for a violation of the league's domestic violence policy. 11. August: Marcell Dareus suspended 4 games for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. I didn't include McCoy's fight with off-duty cops in Philadelphia, but considered it (EDIT:) because he was not charged. So you're saying the Bills had a great June!
BuffaloBillsForever Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Things will only change when the owner is able to identify people to properly evaulate the franchise and player personnel. When Ralph's garbage still runs the show (Brandon and Whaley), the more things change around the Bills (ownership, coaches etc) the dysfunction to no surprise still stays the same! Malazan Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 And the ones before. So basically every team but us. Reading comprehension. Try it. You might like it.

Rico Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I think they can slide a LOT farther. Like if Tyrod doesn't perform this year. Then, maybe THEN all the ralph-era cancer will be cut out and replaced. Look for the cloud with the silver lining.
Nihilarian Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I look at things this way. Back in 1979, the team was working their way out of a decade in which they hadn't beaten the Miami Dolphins in 20 plus games. The team finished that year 7-9 under Chuck Knox and the only real bright spot was a journeyman WR the Bills had gotten from Pittsburgh had 1000 yards receiving with 2 TD's.The last half of the 70's the team had gone 2-12, 3-11 and 5-11. The team just traded away their pro bowl RB in OJ to the 49ers for some picks. If you looked at the roster it was filled with a bunch of nobody's save RG Joe D who was a pro bowler and QB Joe Ferguson who was constantly throwing more INT's than TD's every year. Then, all of a sudden in 1980 all that good Chuck Knox coaching kicked in along with some good drafting and the team went 11-5 while making the playoffs. If Rex Ryan is worth a damn he should be able to coach up the players he does have and still win games. The team beat the Colts last year without Dareus and almost beat the Patriots in that second game without Kyle Williams, Aaron Williams and Mario Williams.
K D Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Rock bottom would be a year suspension for Marcel.....which is actually the much bigger problem Its not that far off Hes the next Josh Gordon if he gets caught again. Hes either immature or addicted at this point. Bills need to intervene or hes going to smoke himself out of football

Nick the Greek Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I remember during the Jauron years we cut 2 starters on the o-line a couple days before the season started (Walker and Dockery IIRC). I was pretty pissed about that.
Nitro Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) Injuries and suspensions make for a nervous fan base. If they start 0-4 Rex is done and it will not be for anything he had control of. Character counts. I still say 9-7 will be a good season with this crew. This is not the worst off season by any measure. As a fan of over 50 years, they have had some real clunkers.
