quinnearlysghost88 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 When I look at the entire arsenal of Watkins, Shady, Clay, et al they look like they'll be pretty capable if they can all stay healthy. Right, I'm happy to get production in other places, and I think they'll contribute greatly. But, imagine if we had a rock solid WR2 as well?!
26CornerBlitz Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 @SalSports For those wondering how Sammy's foot is, here he is running in full stride. https://twitter.com/i/videos/tweet/765196630933069824 @ChrisBrownBills WR Walt Powell laboring a bit thru early part of practice. Got nicked in Saturday's game but played thru it. #Bills
C.Biscuit97 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I know we're supposed to be positive, but just seeing Woods and Goodwin as our WR2 and WR3 options is like groundhog's day depressing. I remember during Woods' rookie year, some folks were telling me he was better than Stevie Johnson. I really don't get the Woods' hate. He is a solid number 2 , especially on a run first team. If we had a better #2, they wouldn't be happy playing in our offense (not sure if Woods is either but he isn't good enough to complain that loudly).
HamSandwhich Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 So, how has Dri Archer faired during this camp?

A healthy Woods will make people forget about last season. He's a perfect fit for this offense and I'm expecting him to silence a lot of critics as he plays his way to a new contract (maybe/hopefully here, probably elsewhere).
Blokestradamus Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 It's screen installation day and Sammy is involved!!! https://twitter.com/4JoshReed/status/765193362504839168

If he produces even close to his best season thus far, it won't be here that he gets his next contract. When Mohamed Sanu is getting $6.5M/year on the open market, there's no way Woods takes less than $7M AAV. Can't swing that when you have to re-sign Sammy after 2017.
C.Biscuit97 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 So, how has Dri Archer faired during this camp? He's done a great job of staying healthy and not fumbling. I would bet a lot of money Woods is gone next year. He probably hates playing in this offense. If he was smart, he'd sign a one year deal with a pass happy team. He seems like a guy NE would love.

The logical side of my brain knows you're correct. The romantic in me clings to the hope that if Taylor takes a big step and the Bills make the playoffs, Woods might consider taking less to be a part of the nucleus of a contender going forward. Long shot though for sure. He's done a great job of staying healthy and not fumbling. I would bet a lot of money Woods is gone next year. He probably hates playing in this offense. I don't think he loved the revolving door at HC/OC/QB he's had to deal with for the first years of his career, but I think he likes GRo's system.

If he's a receiver with any pride, this offense is terrible for you if you aren't Sammy. He gets more money by more catches. No NFL receiver wants to noted for their blocking over their numbers.

Let's see what kind of numbers he puts up this year when he's healthy and they're in year 2 of the system with the same QB for the first time in his career. The system might not look so "block first" for Woods by the end.

26CornerBlitz Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 @JaySkurski 2-on-2 O-Line v. D-line drills definitely favored the defense today. Justin Zimmer fared particularly well for the #Bills. @JoeBuscaglia #Bills RB Karlos Williams is getting reps with the scout team in his first practice back. McCoy, Gillislee with the starters. @viccarucci #Bills starting offense and defense working separately against scout teams for first time in camp. @SalSports Robert Blanton is practicing. So, Duke Williams with the ones is interesting. He played well Saturday night. Meeks and Blanton with twos. @thadbrown7 Tyrod to Watkins perfect throw against Seamster in coverage. Watkins ran that like he was going for a stroll. Not a knock. All he had to do. @SalSports Now starters against starters in 2-minute situation and Duke stays with ones. So does Alexander. The number 3/4 safety spots have become quite an interesting story this camp. Wonder who's there when the musical chairs stops. @thadbrown7 Darby perfect coverage on Goodwin deep. #Bills in 2 min drill @thadbrown7 Woods had Robey-Coleman beat on post. Tyrod throw was way behind. Caused INC.
C.Biscuit97 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I can't trust Duke. After watching him last season and getting roasted by porn whores, I have zero confidence in him.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 @viccarucci #Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman limping on sidelines w what appears to be injured left foot after a collision w Robert Woods.

Guys can certainly get better, hopefully Duke has taken a step in his mental game because he did look good out there against the Colts... even if it was largely against back ups. @viccarucci #Bills CB Nickell Robey-Coleman limping on sidelines w what appears to be injured left foot after a collision w Robert Woods. Ugh. Fair enough. It's also why I hate the preseason. Playing against the Colts' backups with little game planning is a different universe than against Brady. But hopefully, his play and DM game have improved.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 @mikerodak Bills' Nickell Robey-Coleman getting his left foot taped up but looks like he will stay at practice.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 @JoeBuscaglia Marquise Goodwin comes up a little gimpy after his latest rep, not being checked on by trainers, though. #Bills
Coach Tuesday Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 @JoeBuscaglia Marquise Goodwin comes up a little gimpy after his latest rep, not being checked on by trainers, though. #Bills Honestly it should be one of those Geico commercials at this point: "If you're Goodwin, you come up a little gimpy after running a route. It's what you do."
