JimmyTheFreak Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Rex once put Mark Sanches back in to a preseason game, because he was losing to the Giants, and lost his starter for the season. This was in the fourth quarter
Augie Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I don't think Rex takes anything "too seriously" Rob, on the other hand, seems to be taking meal time way too seriously.
Beef Jerky Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I heard Andrew Luck owed IK $600 and wouldn't pay him. That's why he didn't play last night.
ExWNYer Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 The next time Jim 'gin blossoms' Irsay says something worthwhile, it will be the first.
jimmy10 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 The next time Jim 'gin blossoms' Irsay says something worthwhile, it will be the first. His nickname should be "White Rabbit." Feed your head, Jimmy.
YoloinOhio Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 We would all agree with that  We would also agree that in practice you likewise must show restraint though.  Now what type of practice a preseason game is- that's where Rex and some coaches may disagree  Some may recall the 9ers and saints being at odds a few years back when harbaugh wanted to strategize with Payton prior to the game but the saints coach declined as a similar situation iirc Rex and Pettine strategized prior to the Browns preseason game last year on the blitzing thing
Saint Doug Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Considering that young men's careers are on the line, as well as their livelihood, I'm glad Rex is professional enough to take preseason very seriously.
Uffalo Ills Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Hah Eagles, did you see the Bucs blitz the hell out of Wentz and blast him time and time again? Good thing it wasn't Bradford out there for that hit. That might have been the end of his career.
CNY315 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Didn't someone from the Colts complain about Pettine blitzing when we played them in a preseason game a few years ago?
#34fan Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 His nickname should be "White Rabbit." Feed your head, Jimmy. Â HA! Gin Irsay! -Good one!
Uffalo Ills Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Â If he was so serious about the game, he has Carpenter kick an extra point to send the game to OT and then try to win. Irsay should stop the whine. If he was even remotely serious about winning, he'd have run QB sneak on the last play. Cardale's big enough that he'd have pulled that off.
NoSaint Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 iirc Rex and Pettine strategized prior to the Browns preseason game last year on the blitzing thing Yup. It's not uncommon. Â And to those focusing on the win vs loss aspect - I don't think they are referring to that as much as more complex schemes and laying big hits. It's not shocking that some teams wouldn't love that for their #1s in an exhibition setting. It's not a matter of right or wrong, just different styles.

I doubt Rex actually schemes but he isn't opposed to calling something exotic. That 4th? play on defense where both Brown and Graham blitzed was probably more then some other coaches would like to see in preseason. They had the Colts OL completely confused. Â But as you say, it's just a different style. The Colts probably thought, with their OL, there was a good chance of Luck getting hit.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I don`t see him around much longer. Drunks are punks. Liver can only take so much.
Bigantall Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 if he wasn't he sure was at the hof game do you see that guy he wouldn't shut up I thought the network was going to have to start the music  I would like to explicitly state I think Irsay was high as balls when he wrote that. if he wasn't he sure was at the hof game do you see that guy he wouldn't shut up I thought the network was going to have to start the music  I would like to explicitly state I think Irsay was high as balls when he wrote that.
Nanker Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Obviously Irsay reads TSW, obviously. He thinks Luck is a Michael Phelps. What Luck is, is slightly more mobile Drew Bledsoe. Edited August 14, 2016 by Nanker

Augie Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 That's like saying that Ussain Bolt is slightly faster than me. Well, that makes more sense than you are slightly faster than Bolt, cause that's crazy stuff! The guy can fly!
jr1 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Shady would have taken more snaps if Rex took it too seriously
