AtlBills Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Why do the national news pinheads aka Rapoort, Shefter, La Canfora, always get the first scoop regarding local sports teams. The TT deal was first reported by Rapoport, what are the local media guys aka, Carucci, Sal C and the D&C guy doing?? Does the team feel they need to go the national reporting route? Just asking.

It probably is because of ties to agents and the league office. Not only does that mean the national guys have a wider net, but they also are a lot more valuable from a favor trading perspective. For example, Schefter might get a scoop like this from an agent or GM and in return he might be more willing to drop a positive or negative report about another player or situation a later date. Not much point in doing stuff like that with a local guy.

PromoTheRobot Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Good answer. Larry Felser seemed to have sources within the Bills organization. Sully clearly has nobody. The Buffalo News have burned all their bridges because d-bags like Sully and Bucky would rather schitt on the team than actually do reporting.

C.Biscuit97 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 It's still pretty embarrassing. When is the last one the Buffalo media ever broke a story? There's some good reporters but they really offer nothing compare to the national media.
CardinalScotts Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 local guy Sal C, is about the only one who isn't a lazy pile, and knows the game and the league. I'm not a WGR fan unless its Mathew, or Brad or Sals on the rest are essentially worthless.
Mr. WEO Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 the agents give them the info This. It's still pretty embarrassing. When is the last one the Buffalo media ever broke a story? There's some good reporters but they really offer nothing compare to the national media. Why is it embarrassing? Who cares how the info is released? It's already well known that a very few national reporters have access to agents and teams that each home town does not have. Do younthink that the other 31 team's fans care that they aren't getting these contract "scoops" from their local paper(s)? Of course not. Who even reads the paper for sports reporting anymore (or an newspaper's website). For years, this stuff comes from a few guys at ESPN and NFL.com. What's embarrassing is that people here recently were suggesting that Pegula should buy the BN so he could control everything locally reported (in print) about the Bills. That's some crazy right there.

ALF Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I would like TBN to hire Matthew Fairburn to take Tyler Dunne's place. He does a good job.
