Very sad, especially reading about the depression component. Mental health does not get enough attention. Prayers to family and friends. Terrible loss.

Didn't ESPN just announce that he was no longer going to a broadcaster for them? When I read "Died unexpectedly at home" and "no suspicion of foul play", my initial thought is that it is a suicide. Couple that with his history of depression, and I think it's a logical conclusion. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I guess it really doesn't matter at this point.

I hadn't seen/heard anything about him not returning to ESPN. But I didn't know he was battling depression. However he died, it's still sad and he was way too young.

Complications from diabetes.

That's really too bad. I didn't watch him that often as I typically choose NFLN over ESPN for the NFL. It's especially sad as diabetes is a controllable condition with several advances in technology including insulin pumps, continuous sensors, lifestyle changes from proper nutrition, etc.

It's especially tough for Type 1's, but it can be done. I'm no blaming him, and sorry for his family just that medicine thankfully has improved a great deal for diabetics the last 10 years.

He was the perfect replacement host for Dick Schaap on the Sports Reporters. IMO it takes someone special to host that show when there are so many reporters on that show that seem to be LAMP's (or is it LAMR's) instead of real reporters. He was one of the few that made that show watchable. RIP.
