26CornerBlitz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 @JordanWoy Happy to announce that former TCU linebacker and nfl veteran David Hawthorne is signing with the Buffalo Bills.
eball Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Rob Ryan knows him...was most recently in NO.
eball Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Whatever the case with Ragland, I like that the Bills are moving forward aggressively with a contingency plan while there are still weeks before the season.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Whatever the case with Ragland, I like that the Bills are moving forward aggressively with a contingency plan while there are still weeks before the season. Monos and his crew are on the job!
CommonCents Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Whatever the case with Ragland, I like that the Bills are moving forward aggressively with a contingency plan while there are still weeks before the season. Why is that commendable? They just had to shorten a scrimmage because lack of LB's, a day later they sign two linebackers. Seems like standard operating procedure for any organization.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 @RyanTalbotBills New #Bills LB David Hawthorne was teammates with Jerry Hughes at TCU in 2006-2007.

BarleyNY Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Whatever the case with Ragland, I like that the Bills are moving forward aggressively with a contingency plan while there are still weeks before the season. Smh? Its at the point where we praise them for doing what they should be doing? If we aren't to praise someone for doing what they should be doing, then when DO we praise them? Seriously, kudos to the FO for getting on this quickly.
The Wiz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 595 Tackles and 12 Sacks in 8 Seasons with NO and SEA so stats wise he's a second stringer at best.
ALF Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 GM Mickey Loomis signed him away from Seattle in 2012, but Hawthorne proved a mediocre run defender and was always a huge liability in coverage. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5029/david-hawthorne
Chilly Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Even before Ragland, Bills had lost Lawson, Lawson, Riddick. Needed linebackers no matter what happened with Ragland I think.

He's being signed because he can likely learn the playbook and scheme quickly having played for Rob.
Big C Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 anyone available in early August -when all rosters are at their largest - has some significant liabilities somewhere. He's being signed because he can likely learn the playbook and scheme quickly having played for Rob. Or to get through preseason. Can't see this dude seeing much playing time without more injuries.
eball Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Smh? Its at the point where we praise them for doing what they should be doing? I forgot the first rule of the board...if you're not here to bash the organization, STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!! And by the way, since when was the statement "I like what they're doing" considered praise? You are so focused upon being the most pessimistic MF'er ever that it has completely clouded your ability to add anything productive to the discussion. Edited August 7, 2016 by eball
hondo in seattle Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Good depth move. The more competition, the better. Had 3 productive years in Seattle. DH was not particularly productive in NO yet - presumably - Rob Ryan is okay with this signing. Edited August 7, 2016 by hondo in seattle
Kemp2Warlick Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 hris Brown @ChrisBrownBills 2m2 minutes ago . #Bills sign LBs Brandon Spikes & David Hawthorne & TE Jimmay Mundine. Kevin Reddick waived/injured. Arenas, Chambers released. Chris Trapasso @ChrisTrapasso 1m1 minute ago New #Bills TE Jimmay Mundine: 6'2"/240. Most TDs by TE in Kansas history (11) Led KU w/ 45 recs/584 yds in '14. UDFA. Was on Patriots in '15
26CornerBlitz Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 @ChrisBrownBills The #Bills were woefully short at LB. Had to add vets. Hawthorne knows system from playing under Rob Ryan.
