Augie Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) Roger Craig, Kurt Warner, Steve Atwater, Steve Tasker, Isaac Bruce, Sterling Sharpe, LaDanian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James, Sam Mills, Greg Lloyd. Pretty good list. If they don't belong in, most have at least one foot on the line. Tasker of course is a personal favorite, and Craig and James stick out. That may just be me watching the guy with the ball, but they both had distinctive aspects to their games. There are probably some poor schmoes who were better than all these guys but got stuck on lousy teams. Edited August 6, 2016 by Augie

GunnerBill Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Kurt Warner and TO HAVE to go in next year. I was okay with the voters making TO wait a year for the fact he undermined just about every coach he played for but his numbers speak for themselves and he should wait no longer. Kurt probably wasn't 1st ballot worthy and then last year they were always putting Favre in and rarely go two Quarterbacks together. However, he is a Hall of Fame worthy QB and his wait should end this time.
Best Player Available Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 It seems crazy to me that roger Craig hasn't been shown the respect he deserves. Craig-- it is hard to believe he isn't in. Steve tasker-- someday you would think he will get in. Hopefully while he is still on the right side of the grass. NO other player made kickoffs a must see play before him like he did. He was a ST monster. There should be the StevenTasker award for best ST player in the league every year.
Chandler#81 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Ralph, OJ, JoeD, Kelly, Reed, Polian, Bruuuce, Levy, Lofton, TThomas, Shaw. Wait! Wrong Thread.. Mo' Bills: George Byrd (40 INTS???), McDole, C.Biscuit#97 -er Bennett, Smerlas, Saimes, TO, Wolford and Tasker. Lamonica & M.Lynch??
HOF4LOU Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Lou Saban One win away from the chance of it being called the Lou Saban trophy instead of Vince Lombardi. We would have beat the pack. OJ was nothing until Lou came back to coach. They finally gave him his due by putting him on the wall, now we need to fight for him to be in the Hall.
machine gun kelly Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Is there some kind of time limit for a player to become ineligible, or at least not have a snowball's chance in hell of getting in to the HoF? I'm looking forward to that day as it pertains to Steve Tasker. The arguments have already been laid out (like 2 or 3 threads every year), and thankfully, despite his fairly consistent exposure nationally as an announcer/NFL personality (a big help in gaining votes), he remains on the outside. Good. He's not worthy. There is no disqualification period. If you were saying sarcastically, ok, but there is a senior inductee section where you have to have retired from the NFL for at least 25 years. Many deserving guys in that bucket. Honestly, we have most guys who deserve to be in the HOF from Buffalo. If any ST specialist needs to go in because they "changed the game", it's Devin Hester. I'd love to see Tasker in, but the all time kick and punt returner should be a HOF. Not sure if it will ever happen.
Sanners Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 What about Ruben Brown. 9 time pro bowler, 8 years in a row. If that isn't OG dominance in an era, I don't know what is.
Mr. WEO Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I can think of a bunch of people that do NOT belong in the Hall of Fame. Terrell Owens deserves to be in, and he will get in. Right now the only people who I think deserve to be in are: Paul Tagliabue, Don Coryell & Steve Tasker. Agree on Coryell. How he is snubbed and Dungy gets in can't be defended based on what either contributed to the NFL. Tags doesn't deserve it, neither will any Commissioner after Rozelle. Terrel Davis, without looking. Dude was a beast, screwed with an injury on a bubby brister int return. He got !@#$ed! Yup #4. TO will get in, he just became eligible. Don't you have to be retired "at least 5 years"? TO would be eligible after the 17 season, no? Anyway--he should be a 1st ballot HOFer. Warner absolutely belongs.
Mark Vader Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Perfect example of voters allowing a player's personality to cloud judgment as to what makes a HOFer. TO was unjustly snubbed. Then what was the reason for Thurman not being a 1st time ballot?

Anyway--he should be a 1st ballot HOFer. Warner absolutely belongs. Weo - his last regular season was in 2010 with the Bengals. He was in the IFL in 2011, and never made the Seahawks squad in 12. He was snubbed this year in his first year of eligibility, most likely because of his behavior in the locker room and with the media. He didn't have off field issues, but he was let go by five teams, because he was such a pain in the butt. He'll get in next year. This is no different than Parcells. Parcells used to handle the media and even make fun of some of their questions so they held him out for a year. TO will get in. He just needs to be humble and lobby like others.
Lofton80 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Tony Boselli dominated pre injury. 5 pro bowls, all decade selection Joe Jacoby OT of Skins,6 time finalist in HOF voting Cliff Branch Raiders- missed wide open passing era, still one of best yards per catch in history LC Greenwood 6 time pro bowler, all decade team of 70's Mark Bavaro- complete TE, one of best blockers, career cut short by bad knee Agree with Roger Craig backers

I thought because he got a paycheck from the Seahawks (65K signing bonus) it would reset the clock. And how about that 4.45 40 in his workout! These HOF voters are mostly puffed up "Sports writer" d-bags. They have to punish a guy like TO and make him wait in order to make some sort of editorial statement that simply must be made (meanwhile, the guy the media gave a pass for his likely involvement in a murder, got in only because TO was snubbed). In the same way, they vote in Dungy (WTF?) and let a true "game changer" like Coryell twist in the wind. Other than Favre--lame incoming class.
4merper4mer Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Ha -- Schefter tweeted out this article yesterday and I replied, "If Steve Tasker isn't on that list I'm not reading it." But if you don't read it you'll never know if he is on it.
Augie Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Dungy essentially had 2 Super Bowl teams, but got screwed. Gruden is the imposter. BIG TIME.
hardwork Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 TO's negatives are too high. Randy Moss was so could he could overcome his negatives, but TO isn't in his class. Others who should be in: Mike Vrabel, Ty Law, Tedy Bruschi, Troy Brown, Richard Seymour, Rodney Harrison, Willie McGinest. Just off the top of my head of course.
Mr. WEO Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Dungy essentially had 2 Super Bowl teams, but got screwed. Gruden is the imposter. BIG TIME. Dungy had 7 or 8 SB teams. Only won a single SB--against Rex Grossman. Dungy's last team in Tampa wasn't a SB team. Tampa's next team was.
Augie Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Dungy had 7 or 8 SB teams. Only won a single SB--against Rex Grossman. Dungy's last team in Tampa wasn't a SB team. Tampa's next team was. I lived around Tampa during those times. Gruden is a jerk. Gruden only won because he faced one of the most dysfunctional teams ever! I mean, CRAZY Dysfuntional. Oh, and they weren't smart enough to change anything Gruden installed. That was Dungy's team, and the voters agree he's a HOF guy. And to say Dungy had 7-8 SB teams says a lot - for Dungy. No one blames Belicheat when he loses one.
