Deranged Rhino
US government poised to approve first private mission to the Moon Private spaceflight company Moon Express will soon announce it has been granted regulatory approval by the US government to send a lunar lander to the surface of the Moon, according to a source familiar with the matter. If so, that means the company will be the first private company to have received permission from the government to send a vehicle beyond Earth orbit and on to another world. http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/2/12275980/moon-express-private-mission-spaceflight-us-government

BringBackFergy
Truth is, the Government has allowed this mission for one reason only: MoonExpress will retrieve Cardale Jones' errant pass from training camp yesterday.

That would probably more accurately reflect Greg's thoughts on the matter or is the moon just a big projection from somewhere near the middle of our flat earth? Deranged Rhino
That would probably more accurately reflect Greg's thoughts on the matter or is the moon just a big projection from somewhere near the middle of our flat earth? Just for the record, I fully believe the moon landings happened and that the moon is a real celestial object... ... why haven't we been back to the moon in over 40 years? Now that's where I have theories. Sadly most of them are about the boring realities of congressional budgets after the cold war threat had passed -- but I can get wild and throw a few ET warnings in there from time to time. DC Tom
Space treaties. ...It's the truth, but also a cool thing to type. FAA regulations, actually. Above a certain size rocket, you need clearance. Meaning, of course, that below a certain size you can launch whatever the hell you want...
