jimmy10 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Long time reader, first time poster. Thanks for having me Bills fans! Just my 2 cents on the Tyrod contract. Like it or not, this is a QB driven league and that in and of itself almost forces you to take some chances. Are there risks in signing TT to a 6 year deal? Of course. We have seen plenty of examples on the board. But, there is also big upside potential. The reality is, I believe it is smart for the Bills to take that chance now. The alternative, letting TT play out his contract, is risky on a couple of levels. If he has another good year, not even great, his value goes up big time. If that were the case, he will have lots of suiters. Yes, we could also slap the tag on him, but its looking like we'll need that for Gilmore. Right now, we have the leverage. If TT can stay healthy, I think he can be a solid QB. Its worth the risk - I'm with you man, well said. And welcome!
K D Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 The contract doesn't make the QB. He probably said the same thing when we signed Fitz to his deal back in the day. Someone check the archives
JoeF Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Tim Graham @ByTimGraham 37s38 seconds ago Tyrod Taylor deal can be as long as six years, but contains team options. $90 million, but could be more with incentives. Good for both sides...
FireChan Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 your right......the QB makes the QB and Tyrod Taylor is a unicorn Nothing has changed from TT since yesterday. Yesterday you wanted to see more from him before a long-term deal. Today we have our franchise QB. That's all the contract.
John from Riverside Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 He probably said the same thing when we signed Fitz to his deal back in the day. Someone check the archives I probably liked the Fitz contract.....because he was playing well and not getting top 10 money
nucci Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 It's an NFL contract...there are always ways to get out of them....only a portion of the money is guaranteed but don't let me prevent anyone from flipping out....enjoy the game tomorrow
26CornerBlitz Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 @BuffaloBillsPR .@buffalobills QB Tyrod Taylor will meet with the media to discuss his new deal today at 4 PM.
John from Riverside Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Nothing has changed from TT since yesterday. Yesterday you wanted to see more from him before a long-term deal. Today we have our franchise QB. That's all the contract. I did want to see more but We are past that now
FireChan Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I did want to see more but We are past that now So you are unaware that a contract changes nothing. Just checking.
John from Riverside Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 So you are unaware that a contract changes nothing. Just checking. Only that TT isnt going anywhere
Deranged Rhino Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 So you are unaware that a contract changes nothing. Just checking. It helps assure Gilmore sticks around at least through next season, and Taylor. I'll take that as starting points.
ALF Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Hope Taylor is a franchise QB and I'll give Rex all the credit for bringing him here.
Dorkington Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Holy ****, a 6 year deal, wasn't expecting that. Interesting! I'm assuming there's team options built in?
John from Riverside Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Good point brought up just now Last year at this time GM was talking about QB purgatory not anymore
26CornerBlitz Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 @ByTimGraham Tyrod Taylor deal can be as long as six years, but contains team options. $90 million, but could be more with incentives.
