26CornerBlitz Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 @PFF All eyes are on Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins in 2016. @PFF_Billy previews the #Bills' season here: https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-nfl-2016-season-preview-buffalo-bills-tyrod-taylor-sammy-watkins Around this time of the year — ever year — there is a familiar feeling around upset New York: false optimism with the knowledge that the team will inevitably crash, burn, fall short of the New England Patriots and ultimately miss the playoffs. 2016 feels different, though. The Bills appear to have finally found a franchise quarterback, Rex Ryan is entering his second season — and this time he has players who should be able to work within his system — and the roster has talent all over. Here is where Buffalo ranks among each position group entering 2016: [More: Be sure to check out PFF’s ranking of all 32 NFL QB situations, offensive lines, running back units, receiving corps, secondaries, and defensive front-sevens]
Jamie Nails Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Upset New York? Typo forshadowing soon to be reality?
hondo in seattle Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Stat geeks are good at analyzing past performance but I wonder how good they are at projecting future performance. How does PFF know how Rex will evolve his defense? How Roman will evolve his offense? How injured players like Woods will rebound this year? Or how young players like Miller might progress this year? I'm not convinced that PFF's acumen with statistics necessarily makes them good prognosticators.

It's mostly projecting performance based on past results. But they gotta find something to do for now.
boyst Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 our RB's are fairly ranked. our WR's are ranked too low; bob woods gets no respect. our OL may be too high.
Ronin Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Pretty accurate I thought. The team is all but entirely dependent upon the healthy and superb play of both Taylor and Watkins, and Shady to a lesser extent. I disagree about Williams as for every very good game he had two flops, far too inconsistent to be relied upon, so we need to hope that Shady can make it through 16 games like he did in '13 & '14. The WRs are entirely unproven after Watkins other than as depth players. Same for our RBs including Karlos. They got the D right, our central D is weak in pass defense with LBs and Ss that aren't great against the pass to say the least, we have two top-notch CBs on the outsides in the secondary. If Taylor goes down I don't think anyone would bet that we win any given game and if Watkins goes out who's Taylor going to throw to that's going to matter. Suggesting that Watkins is going to be healthy all season is a fool's bet. Who knows re: Taylor, but as a diminutive QB he'd better protect himself more than he did last season. I agree that Taylor is going to be one of the more interesting QBs to watch. our WR's are ranked too low; bob woods gets no respect. How so? How much respect do you think Woods should get given that he's put up an average of about 600 yards in three seasons, 3 TDs, and has about 12 ypr? To put this in some perspective, draft class peer Kenny Stills has played even better than Woods, how much "respect" do you think Stills commands? I know I'm not concerned about what he'll do when we play him twice a year. Also, until Taylor starts to effectively throw OTM during games, not just at OTAs, Woods' shouldn't command much respect anyway given that he's primarily a slot WR.

And for third he played with brees Woods would have been the best WR to hit FA this year with better stats than Jones or Sanu. Better than people give him credit for despite playing behind Graham, sj13, Watkins. Etc

26CornerBlitz Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 ESPN Radio AFC East preview: Buffalo Bills John Clayton speaks with Mike Rodak of NFL Nation about the Bills and their prospects for this season.
Chandler#81 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 ESPN Radio AFC East preview: Buffalo Bills Clayton uncharacteristically benign. Then again, Rodak laid out every reason to be doubtful this season.. I wish I could say he's a NN, but I guess I am.. IMO Hughes is best as a garbage collector when playing with a Pro Bowl pass rusher on the other side. Waay too much to hope for that he'll deliver '10, 11, 12 sacks'.
