I like the editorial to pick up Boldin, not Busch for the last piece. I still contend pick up Freeney at the minimum as well and we'll be in even better shape. He rotates with Manny Lawson and pins ears back on 3rd until Shaq is ready.

Freeny would be a fantastic addition IMO. I'm fine with Bush as well, but have low expectitations. My guess is the Bills hope he can backup 5 games while K. Williams is out, and longer if they cut K. Williams if he shows up fat and out of shape after his suspension.

I am curious as to why we have not tried to bring Freeney in

He was pretty good last year.

He's good as a pass rushing specialist, but that's it. Can't cover. 37 years old. He's been a situational pass rusher for the last 3 years running. Rex likes to mix up his packages in terms of who's chasing after the QB and putting Freeney out there would tell any team that he's one guy you have to block. Just a thought.

I hope we sign him.

It's been way too long since we talked about getting guys into space.

Reggie Bush is the Gegarin to Spiller's Alan Shepard. I think we should sign him.

Bush would make sense as one of those after Week 1 signings that isn't guaranteed a contract type deals that is asked to step in and play 2nd fiddle to McCoy until Karlos Williams is back from suspension or possibly serve as a depth RB and primary punt returner. I think he could also give an added dimension on 3rd downs similar to what Ronnie Harmon did in his career with the Chargers. As it allow McCoy to get mileage on his tires and possibly play out his contract.

The only issue that I see with Bush is that he'd be 5th on the RB depth chart (4th until Karlos is back). He adds some value as a 3rd down guy and returner but won't contribute much (if anything) in the backfield.

Absolutely agree IF he is signed he should be signed post-week 1 UNLESS he signed one of the minimum veteran contracts which qualify for salary cap discount.

I haven't watched him much the last couple years - but think he's got the wheels left to help be an asset in the slot? He was at times dangerous motioning out of the backfield and getting iso vs a lb once upon a time

That's what I'd see his role as. I loved him in motion when he was here. Some of those gimmicky type things (jet sweeps, etc...).

Right - we just need to get him in space.....worked for Spiller!

Bringing him into camp, if they even sign him, isn't guaranteeing him a spot on the 53. It's adding veteran depth in case of injury and getting him in early enough so he knows the offense and gets the reps in case we need him. If he can't play anymore well enough to contribute, he won't make the team. It's a low risk signing IMO.

Sounds like it makes sense and if he does make the team he deserved a spot...I'm kind of blah on the deal but I think in this offense big plays can happen and he is a big play back

That worked for the Bills at the time because of the blocking scheme and a QB able to make the short passes over the middle. I see nothing from last year indicating such an offense will be a staple of game this year.

I don't disagree at all. I'm just saying that IF you are considering Reggie Bush you must be planning on using him for that. Otherwise he is useless. He's not really a RB. The Bills have at least 4 guys on the roster that are better RBs (once Karlos is back). Bush can offer value in the pass game, return game and in space. That's it though.

I read the comments replying to my post on Freeney, but to say he's not part of the scheme is not accurate as he had 9 sacks in 11 games in a two point stance with the Cardinals. They run the 3-4, and Freeney shined. He was on a bad Chargers team the previous two years.

He is a great filler while we wait for Shaq, and a great mentor for Shaq upon his return. His spin move is legendary.

As far as the other editorial from the BN, I like Boldin as an addition more than Busch. Just because Karlos is out, you have a very promising draft pick in J. Williams who won't get suspended until 2017 for the DUI. The only unknown is McCoy really more injured than we thought with the ankle thing from OTA's. If he's truly healthy, McCoy, J.Williams, and Gilleslie can handle the load for four games.

Use the veteran money on Boldin on offense, and Freeney on defense.

and, assuming he has any tread left on the tires, i think roman would have some fun with him.

hes the type of guy you can roll out a 1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR formation, and based on what the defense gives have packages to suddenly lineup 5 wide with him and clay, for instance.

and personally i think when given the opportunity he was a little bit better of a runner than you give credit for (he had a 3 year run averaging about 225 carries and 1000 yards) so you could still keep clay tight and have a run game with that personnel set.

but hes 31, and coming off a leg injury so ill again say im not strongly advocating - just talking about the type of roles he could fill. if its vet min, and we can cut him in august - im not opposed to taking a shot.
