jr1 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 there's no point in historical records if they are constantly changing things
DasNootz Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I'd rather they just use the chip to determine if the ball crossed the plain, made the first down, and if the ball went through the uprights.

Blokestradamus Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 The kicking game wasn't broke until they started chipping away at it.
GunnerBill Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 The kicking game wasn't broke until they started chipping away at it. Agreed.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 The kicking game wasn't broke until they started chipping away at it. They must be concerned about the ever increasing accuracy of kickers on field goal attempts. Why punish kickers for perfecting their craft?
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I'd rather they just use the chip to determine if the ball crossed the plain, made the first down, and if the ball went through the uprights. I've been confounded why this isn't done yet. Accuracy problems?
Blokestradamus Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 They must be concerned about the ever increasing accuracy of kickers on field goal attempts. Why punish kickers for perfecting their craft? Because perfection is boring and failure makes for more critical opinion. Helps fill column inches.

Steve O Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Problem with the kicking game isn't the width of the uprights or the distance of the extra point. Problem with the kicking game is the holder. Remove the holder from the game, make everything a drop kick. Move the extra point back to the 2 yard line, 1 point for drop kick, 2 for running/passing over the goal line. Won't be seeing 50 yard field goals that are now chip shots. Doug Flutie will come out of retirement!

Best Player Available Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Are you NFL officals effin nutz? I'm barely hangin on as it is. Sincerely, Dan Carpenter Buffalo Bills

Bob in Mich Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 How about a 2nd, higher cross bar? Force the kick to be low enough to go into a 'goal'. Certainly make it a much tougher kick as well as much more easily blocked.
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) How about a 2nd, higher cross bar? Force the kick to be low enough to go into a 'goal'. Then you don't have to have that massive net behind the thing either, you'd just have a net that the ball get's caught in. Oh, and then you don't have to decide if its good or not. If it's good, its in the net. It'd also encourage lower trajectory kicks - which means more blocks. Edited July 18, 2016 by dneveu
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I want to know who sits around thinking "what we really need is for kicking to determine the outcome of more games".
4merper4mer Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I'd rather they just use the chip to determine if the ball crossed the plain. Wouldn't this only work in the midwest?
