Reading between the lines

OR

The writing on the wall?

Please support your argument with facts and a footnote or two.

The writing on the wall.

Paul Simon agrees:

"When I think back

On all the crap I learned in high school

It's a wonder

I can think at all

And though my lack of education

Hasn't hurt me none

I can read the writing on the wall..."

 They're the same aren't they?

"Reading between the lines", "seeing the writing on the wall, and "seeing the forest through the trees", are three critical updates for the same app... Equals in every way.

Well "the writing is on the wall" has biblical origins.while "read between the lines" is tied to several possible origins. Wouldn't "between the sheets" be better? That's biblical isn't it? Usually involves getting to know another in a biblical way, no?
