Blokestradamus
Former Bills 7th round pick Kyle Calloway died after being hit by a train. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000673064/article/former-bills-iowa-ol-kyle-calloway-killed-by-train?campaign=tw-cf-sf30331546-sf30331546 "Former Iowa Hawkeyes offensive lineman Kyle Calloway, a 2010 seventh-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills, was killed by a train on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona. He was 29 years old. A Tucson Police Department release stated that Calloway was jogging westbound on and off railroad tracks when he was struck from behind by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene. "That was what he did for exercise," Ed Calloway, Kyle's father, told The Gazette of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "He liked to run and it had rained the day before and the area where he ran was muddy, and so he was going back and forth across the tracks to get out of the mud." Calloway was a three-year starter for the Hawkeyes and was twice selected second-team All-Big Ten. He was released by the Bills during the preseason of his rookie year. He signed with the Ravens the following year and appeared in two preseason games for Baltimore before being released. The family is donating Calloway's brain to study the potential effects of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), per The Gazette." Saint Doug
I'm sure headphones had something to do with this. Still, there's not much else louder than an oncoming train. Horrible way to die.
Doc
At least he died doing what he loved.
QuoteTheRaven83
Why do people continue to cross the tracks and run along the tracks like this? RIP Calloway but this is the dumbest sht i've ever heard. Just common sense. Edited July 5, 2016 by QuoteTheRaven83
billsfanmiami(oh)
I'm sure headphones had something to do with this. Still, there's not much else louder than an oncoming train. Horrible way to die. He probably was wearing headphones but oncoming trains are actually shockingly quiet. Unless he was near a crossing where they would be blowing the horn, a train can be almost on top of you before you know it. Amtrak traveling at high speed is even more quiet & fast approaching. Jamie Nails
This is extremely sad news, but I can't help but question running on and off of train tracks, especially if wearing headphones. Like running in the bike lane to me.

sodbuster
I know it's an irrational reason, but I never run outside with headphones anymore after that guy had a plane land on him while running at the beach.

Seems like it's not that horrible to me. If you never see it coming, and die instantly.
Blokestradamus
It's obviously tragic for Kyle and his family but spare a thought for the driver of the train. How do you process that and go back to work?
K D
I was sad to hear how he was killed but I guess it's not any dumber than some of these people that run on a busy road during rush hour or bike in the middle of traffic. I see it all the time. It's an accident waiting to happen

Running on an active railroad track is almost always at the very least, and universally discouraged. The two aren't comparable.
