3rdand12 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 if we start out poorly the howls will be unrelenting. And i would not argue with the howlers if the Defense looks like last year.
PromoTheRobot Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I look forward to all the doubters and cynics climbing back on the bandwagon saying they never doubted Tyrod and the Ryans for a minute.
thebandit27 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I look forward to all the doubters and cynics climbing back on the bandwagon saying they never doubted Tyrod and the Ryans for a minute. Because it's totally unreasonable to do so?
PromoTheRobot Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Because it's totally unreasonable to do so? I'm just saying everyone is sure we suck until we don't.
hondo in seattle Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Um, every coach inherits someone else's team. Ryan took Mangini's team that hadn't finished in the top half of the league in total defense and immediately produced the league's #1 defense. He did that with a rookie QB and 4 new starters on defense, so it's a bit of a stretch to say he took someone else's leftovers and got out of their way. Look, I'm not a Rex guy, but some folks are trying way too hard to criticize him. It's quite simple: his approach to the defense for 2015 was an abject failure, and he needs to get it corrected if this team hopes to make the playoffs. Yep. Rex effed up last year. It doesn't mean he'll eff up again this year. He has had some very good seasons in his resume - let's hope he repeats his successes in '16, not his failures. On the positive side, Rex probably has the best OC and QB he's ever had in his run as a HC. I'm not convinced Rex is the HC to return us to the playoffs. But no one on this board will convince me he's not. To me the proof is in the pudding: I want to see what he can do going forward.
thebandit27 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I'm just saying everyone is sure we suck until we don't. That's not even close to true A few people think that way, while a few others are sure we're Super Bowl champs until we aren't. Everyone else falls in the middle category
Dorkington Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I don't have any grand expectations, but I'm also not in a rush to swap coaches/front office staff again. I want to see what happens if we have some continuity for a few years, even if its painful at first.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 And i would not argue with the howlers if the Defense looks like last year. indeed, but I just can't see it being that bad. Can it?
GunnerBill Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Um, every coach inherits someone else's team. I can't think of another Head Coach though who had the fortune to inherit teams with winning records the previous season in his first TWO Head Coaching stops....
3rdand12 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 indeed, but I just can't see it being that bad. Can it? Like my job, i am often amazed. But honestly BB , I am very Pro Bills this season !
Dorkington Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) indeed, but I just can't see it being that bad. Can it? We lost a Pro-Bowl DE (admittedly he underperformed last year), and quality CB depth. Who knows what injuries we'll face this year, and we don't have the easiest schedule. It very well could happen that we get worse. It could also stay the same, or get better. Edited June 30, 2016 by Dorkington
3rdand12 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Rex will be around for 10 years Could you add some more details? That is a rather vague statement my friend .
Augie Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Rex will be around for 10 years I'm no actuary, but I'd think his life expectancy would be somewhat longer. Bills HC expectancy? Somewhat shorter.
