John from Riverside Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I want Goodwin to do whatever makes him happy...... but When I hear how football is not his first love.....well......
YoloinOhio Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) This really doesn't bother me at all. It's his life. He's living it. He will or won't make it with the Bills based on how he can compete in whatever part of camp he will attend. He earned his current contract by getting drafted in the 3rd round. He will or won't earn a second contract and can be cut at any time. Good luck to him. It's his dream. Edited June 21, 2016 by YoloinOhio
chris heff Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) I hope he wins a gold medal. Edited June 21, 2016 by chris heff
hondo in seattle Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I don't know if he'll ever be a good investment for the Bills. But I wish the young man well in the Olympics and beyond.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 This really doesn't bother me at all. It's his life. He's living it. John from Riverside Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Frankly if the Bills WR group wasn't so weak Goodwin would've been cut yesterday, IMO. I dont know if it isnt so much "weak" as it is "untested" I have high hopes for a couple of these wide outs......and of course I really root for Dez Lewis and Kolbe because we drafted them
Coach Tuesday Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 This is why players want to play for Rex. It's an important point.
stony Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 He's not the first person who works a job that's not his passion but pays well. The whole fan/pro athlete dynamic will rub some the wrong way here, but props to him. Go win the gold.
Luxy312 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 My perspective on this is pretty simple. If he were somewhat middling in his performance in the long jump, I would say cut him. Why would you keep a player on the roster that you know isn't likely to medal, that's not fully participating in offseason work? He's not though. He's made the two longest jumps so far this year of anyone that has hopes of winning Gold for the U.S. Is he going to be behind in terms of learning plays, calls, etc.? Absolutely. He's not going to compete in the Olympics and then simply take the field. I feel here though that Rex is making the right call.
Beef Jerky Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Cue the 'quise haterz in 3, 2, 1..... This is a very fragile thread.
Dopey Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Slow time of the year. He has 20 rec and 3 td's in 3 seasons with us. 17 of those rec and all 3 td's in year 1 with us. That's 3 rec and 0 td's in the last 2 seasons. That's a lot of print for a player who has given us virtually nothing. Just saying.
Malazan Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I'd like to see his profile outlined against the sun as he walks away from Buffalo.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Good for him, wish him great success. I wish for him that he doesn't find himself needing to choose between the sports. He is one of the best at long jumping in the world, top 10. At football, he is not even remotely close to that, maybe top 1000?
Best Player Available Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Slow time of the year. He has 20 rec and 3 td's in 3 seasons with us. 17 of those rec and all 3 td's in year 1 with us. That's 3 rec and 0 td's in the last 2 seasons. That's a lot of print for a player who has given us virtually nothing. Just saying. easley is only 14 career receptions behind him. he deserves a thread too.
NoSaint Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 realistically, how old do guys participate in the long jump? Would this be his last real shot? if so, all you can do is wish him the best and hope he turns to football 110% the day after its done.
