OP. I'm not discouraged. I'm just not as stoked as I usually am. Every year, even the total crap years, I'd be much more into it than I am right now. That's all. I think I mentioned that I will be watching every game. I hope I get it back. It's sort of like a marriage that loses a little spark after a while. Might be time to order a Buffalo Bills Viagra pill.

Right!! And picking up all the New York Jets debris. I've never heard of these guys they keep signing. EK?? What???

Exactly. Viagra is when the problem is with you.

I'm in the Will-the-Real-Rex-Ryan-Please-Stand-Up club.

Is Rex the buffoon he sometimes appears to be? Or a defensive mastermind who just had a bad year?

And my uncertainty doesn't stop there. TT showed promise last year. Will take a step this year and become a franchise QB who can win a game with his arm? Or will be just the latest QB to tease us only to leave us disappointed?

Neither 10-6 nor 6-10 would surprise me. I'm neither hopeful nor prematurely dejected. Only curious.

I hate to say it, but if you take the Bill Polian/Superbowl years out of the equation, this team is one of the worst NFL franchises in reagards to winning percentage, winning seasons, and Hall of Famers. It's staggering that before that, OJ simpson was the only one. Let that sink in for a minute. Why is this year's version of false hope any different than the other 40+ years of misery? I love this team, and always hope for the best, but in truth, it's been a pretty crappy NFL team for roughly 4/5 of it's existence. I **** you not.

Is that premature dejeculation? :w00t:

I check on the Bills every day, but I for some reason don't have the passion, and I think it's because of last year's disappointing defense. In struts Rex, the defensive genius, inheriting a team that led the league in sacks for 2 years, and was #4 in the league....while playing New England twice a year!! The vibe was, this is going to be a great defense.

It sucked. With Rex and his boys in charge, it sucked. Now he's brought in his twin, and has lost some key pieces, and he tells us it's going to be different this year. How? I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm not saying I believe they will be a bad/mediocre team. I think they've got the talent to beat just about anybody. But my expectations are non-existent. I want them to win, of course, and I will be with the Bills Backers in St. Louis for every minute of the season. But I'm just not as hooked.

I do believe Gilmore will be signed soon. The media makes it look like it's doomed. But they'll work it out. With this ownership group, money is not an issue. The salary cap is the issue. They'll find a way to get it done.

I'm right there with you. I want to be excited but 1) The Patriots still have Brady (for most of the year) 2) While I enjoy Rex's bravado, until I see him hold a player accountable it will be hard to believe in him again. 3) I'm tired of losing. I am very hopeful about the future with Pegula as the owner, he's willing to spend money to win, but the future may not be now.

We have the best head coach we've had since 2000 in Wade Phillips who immediately followed Levy and you're disengaged now?

That rather requires me to agree with this assertion. I do not.

Well said. I feel very similar. The whole league seems to highlight all the parts of the sport and off-the-field stuff that I don't care about.

I've never been so uninterested in the draft, our team, players around the league. It's all so, "meh" to me. I know a lot of it has to do with how I feel about Rex Ryan, but the trend of the NFL is headed straight towards a trajectory that I couldn't be less amused by.

Good post!

Insanity = watching the Bills do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The first year I really paid attention to the Bills was 1968. I was brought up on a losing franchise. But every 5-8 years, they would at least be competitive for the playoffs late in the season. This long stretch of mediocrity, with no late season excitement except for one miserable Steelers loss that i attended, has taken the "sails out of my wind".

Also, I think the media oversaturation of the Bills and NFL in general has taken some of the shine off it for me. With that oversaturation comes so many depressing/embarrassing disclosures about the players, it's tough to get excited about them.

Free agency has also lessened my loyalty to the players, because in most cases, they turn over so quickly. In the past 15-20 years, they just haven't had many players that are really excellent and have the ability to make game-changing plays. At best we have had a bunch of guys that belong in the Hall Of Very Good.

I will say, I just watched the 4th quarter of the second jets game from last year and enjoyed seeing Tyrod again - he and several other guys were pretty fun to watch again. Right after that, I put on the Green Bay game from 2014, and even though the Bills won, it was depressing watching Kyle Orton and some of the other guys that were on that team. They just weren't very good, and it's hard to believe I was excited to see Orton start games - only because EJ was so bad. I turned that Green Bay game off after the first period.

Add all that up, and I still enjoy watching them win, but don't have expectations that they will make the playoffs anytime soon. Keep the expectations low, and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

You never took a Viagra b.c the chick is just that damn ugly?

No, and that's not what he said? The Bills aren't ugly so why should you have issues with a hard on?

That rather requires me to agree with this assertion. I do not.

The truth doesn't require you to agree in order to be so.

If this offense just remains as good or a little better

and

This D improves (and frankly I expect it....Rex Ryan does not historically put out bad defenses)

This is a playoff team

Cheer up

When was the last time our offense and defense clicked in the same year? lol

I will yet again watch every play of every game. That said, I haven't felt as bad about a team since the year that Van Pelt started a chunk of games for us.

All the color coded charts on earth will not make me think anything is OK wrt the defense. It was a sad, sick joke last season. Now, our #1 pick has a pre-packaged injury.

Tyrod, imo, is going to be a very good qb some day, but maybe not for the Bills. Did they get him a #2 wide receiver? How many games will Watkins miss? How much does Karlos weigh? Who is playing RT? RG? Ryan did nothing to help this kid on offense.

The team plays with no discipline and is run by a circus clown (Rex), a free spending kid in a candy store with a questionable at best strategy (Whaley), and a carnival barker (Brandon).

It ain't pretty.

See I think this is rather harsh. For one, they had one of the better offensive lines in all of football last season. John Miller was a 3rd round pick who played fairly well through adversity as a rookie last season, he's fine. They'll be fine at RT. I actually think the team could be good this year. For me, I've just kinda lost a little bit of interest in the NFL totally regardless of whether the Bills are good or not. I just think the NFL has kinda jumped the shark for me. Poor Pegs. :(

I must thank Rex though for Richie, Roman, and especially TT. Even if the front office is floundering as always, at least we finally have a QB with the obvious and easy-to-see potential to be great. As such, I am psyched for this season to watch how TT progresses.

Too bad you DONT take the Super Bowl years out of the equation

Its a lot like taking the running yards out of the top running game in the league because Tyrod Taylor had some of them

When was the last time our offense and defense clicked in the same year? lol

That is kind of a crappy arguement

There is a really good chance they both do click at the same time this year

I worry about penalties and injuries.......
