The Kulikov penalty was an act of stupidity that changed a game that should have been in the win column to a game that was lost in a shootout. This foolish Russian demonstrated undisciplined play on that reckless hit and it also demonstrated a lack of situational awareness in the game. Simply stupid and selfish.

The positives I took out of this game is that Ennis played well and Moulson is capable of being sniper who can still score. I thought Nilsson played well and it is obvious that he is quicker than the bulky Leonherd.

i am still pissed about this game. Gorges and Larsson turnovers...especially Larsson with and easy clear out of the zone, but instead tries to make the cute play, leads to Kulikov hit...and that's our defensive specialist!

As i have thought about it more overnight, my anger at Murray is maybe calming down a bit. I think the Sabres could/should be 3-1-1, instead we are 1-2-2, with both OT losses spitting 3rd period leads and just awful strategy in the OT. That's on the coach i think , especially the OT strategy.

Sniper is just about the last word that comes to mind after seeing Moulson's goals yesterday. He's a garbage collector, but that's exactly what he needs to be.

He certainly is not an all around player. His game is to get in the open areas and quickly get the shot off. If he is not playing with players who can get him the puck in the right area and the right time he is useless. Most of his scoring is done with quick time shots as opposed to carrying the puck and putting himself in position with the puck on his stick. His style of play is the antithesis of a player such as Ennis who can carry the puck and create his own shot. Without a doubt Moulson has limitations but he has demonstrated this season that he can be a contributing player if he is playing with the players who can set him up and put him in a position to pounce on a puck around the net. Sometimes the garbage that you get can be very valuable.

In my view that is not luck. That simply is his limited game and where he scores. That is what he needs to do to contribute.

I'm with you 100%. Guys like Moulson who routinely wind up in the right places, that's not luck. He's a very smart player and he's exactly the kind of guy that can help a team thrive as a secondary scorer. This team would look a hell of a lot better if he was putting up these goals while the team wasn't missing at least 50 goals from their roster in the form of Eichel/Kane. I hope he can keep it going whenever they get back.

Yeah, I keep forgetting it's not really the Buffalo Sabres out there right now -- which sucks, because they're digging a hole they probably won't be able to get out of.

To me, it's still more about next year than anything. That was the point where I expected them to start making some noise. For now, they just need to tread water and gel a little bit until they get the fire power back. Longterm, the front office needs to focus on strengthening the blue line. That's what will really help them if they're ever going to make the leap.

They're going to need to strengthen the goal line for sure. Lehner is awful.

i agree that he can get to the right spots...but both goals last night, were in my opinion, lucky. But you guys are right...so much of the NHL scoring now are bounces etc, i get your point.

Still losing. So many rookies looking good, our young star in traction. what's it gonna take for this town to get a winner?

Should they be killing the league without Eichel and Kane? 4 out of a possible 8 points on a road trip isn't exactly terrible.

Oh no, but the best ability is availability, know what i mean? Apologies, been kind of a raw week, my teams losing to the two opponents i hate the most.

Yeah Moulson was lucky on both of those. If you swap goalies we probably lose that game 4 - 1.

A lot of it is on the coach. We had 5 days of rest and were playing a team on 0 days rest, and it looked like it through 2 periods. You heard the boos raining down at the end of the 2nd -- everyone knew they weren't going to lay down at home in the last period. And we just rolled over and got outshot 19-5 in that 3rd period. Really has nothing to do with missing star players, and a lot to do with having no heart.

Thanks to Nilsson, we still probably win that game if Kulikov doesn't act like an idiot. But we won't sniff the playoffs if the team keeps taking 20 minutes off like yesterday, and that's on Disco Dan.

What is it w/Filthadelphia... They have a nasty habit of doing this against the Sabres. Uncanny... Like how BFLo always beats San Jose in San Jose. A broken record it seems, but hey, I not complaining when it benefits us. Tampa a few years back it seemed the Sabres would do this to.

I had a gut feeling they were gonna blow it last night. If they could have just potted that 4th goal!

Moulson is unburdened of having to get a drunk Eichel into bed every night.
