shrader Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 @BuffaloSabres NEWS: The #NHLCombine will remain in Buffalo through 2019. Details http://bufsabres.co/iq1bsS Did he just throw a frisbie or something? I wonder how he scored on that test.
ChevyVanMiller Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) Heard it Guerin, and its a done dealIs it a source you trust? Nice pick, if true. Here is an interesting paragraph from his bio. It sure looks like both of Buffalo's teams are heading into the deep end of the analytics pool. "On June 6, 2014, Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford announced that Guerin would be promoted to assistant general manager of the team. Rutherford said that Guerin would be focusing on developing the analytical side of the game." Edited May 2, 2017 by ChevyVanMiller
Alaska Darin Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I loved Billy Guerin the player. Dude had it all and played his ass off.

My main problem with what i heard is that is was done a few days ago, just waiting on the announcement. That sounds fishy to me, and not sure why they would want to hold the news...maybe just not a good look with Whaley getting fired.
ChevyVanMiller Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Well, Kane whistled past that graveyard. http://www.wkbw.com/news/evander-kane-harassment-trespassing-case-dismissed
KD in CA Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Yep. He played well, but I wasn't a fan of him. Didn't like him in Colorado before he got to Buffalo, or when he was with NYR either. And I recognize that I've really got no good basis for this. Not even when he was pitching for the Trumbull CT LLWS champs??
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Not even when he was pitching for the Trumbull CT LLWS champs?? wasn't he a "ho-bee bay-ker award winner" eh?
26CornerBlitz Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 @FriedgeHNIC Word is BUF had some kind of second interview with Jason Botterill (PIT) for GM position. But I'm not sure where process stands.
bilzfancy Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) Botterill would be a good choice, was a player, scout, assistant GM, GM of minor league team, salary cap expert, hired Mike Sullivan as coach, and who can deny his success with Pittsburgh, as helped Shero and Rutherford with building that team Edited May 3, 2017 by bilzfancy
26CornerBlitz Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 @ChuckGormleyNHL Penguins associate GM Jason Botterill met with Buffalo Sabres again last night to discuss vacant GM job
bilzfancy Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Hmmmm Pegs private jet is leaving Pittsburgh for Buffalo at 2 today
ricojes Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 (edited) Hmmmm Pegs private jet is leaving Pittsburgh for Buffalo at 2 today I can't argue with Botterill as GM. Everything I read about him has been very impressive, well excluding his NHL stats... Edited May 4, 2017 by ricojes

They were talking on WGR this morning saying it may be a two-fer, Guerin as Director of Hockey Operations and Botterill for GM.

ChevyVanMiller Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 (edited) Director of Operations is more of a hockey Czar. In that role Guerin would be the eyes and ears of the owners and the GM would report to him. Edited May 4, 2017 by ChevyVanMiller

GG Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 got .did that flight from Pittsburgh land yet? Check Vogl's Twitter. Plane landed but no one recognizable
ChevyVanMiller Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 With butter? Haha, instead of Czar maybe he should be known as Kaiser.
