Taro T Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Stat question: If you are dressed and on the bench but never set foot on the ice, does it count as a game played? Nope. That's how Gary Unger's iron man streak ended.
Alaska Darin Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 That's a heartening fact. What are we? Year 5 at this point? Not really. To put it in "like" terms: This season's Sabres (as disappointing as it's been) already have more points than ANY Edmonton team for the last SEVEN seasons. They were under 67 points FIVE times during that period. Our rebuild didn't really start in earnest until the off season when Darcy was fired. That happened in late 2013 and that season ended in 2014. The following draft got us Reinhardt, who wasn't ready for the NHL and then the tank happened. So really we're in season 3. I think it's probably comparable to how the Blues were built. So in reality this was really the first season with the possibility of contention but there were simply too many injuries for this group to overcome. Hopefully this off season nets us a couple of NHL quality defensemen, with at least one of them being a Top 3 type guy.

Sabres to sign college star CJ Smith. http://www.wgr550.com/articles/sabres-ink-college-star-cj-smith If we're lucky, he turns into another Brian Flynn. No one should be expecting a scoring line boost with this type of signing. These guys are typically pretty close to their ceiling already.

I saw the score and then deleted. What's the point? A lot of teams who are vying for the playoffs and won't make it are as good or better than us. Unless a lot is done in the offseason we can be watching the same scenario play out again. I'm a long time Buffalo Bills fan. The Bills have not had a legitimate franchise qb since the retirement of Jim Kelly, over twenty years, ago. How does that happen? What's the point? I'm not the type of sports fan whose emotions and attitude are roiled by a sports outcome. But there is a depressing absurdity and futility to being a Buffalo pro sports fan. Systemic and institutional failure that lasts for more than a generation is so stupid.
BillsFan4 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 https://mobile.twitter.com/SabresProspects/status/848569350974058497/video/1 Alex Nylander with an absolutely amazing assist the other night. Check it out. Also, I heard he is supposed to be getting called up for tomorrow's game against Toronto. I haven't seen it confirmed yet, but that would be nice to get a look at him in the NHL. Pretty cool for Alex to get his first game against his brother's team too (if true).

26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 @BuffaloSabres RECALL: Forward Alex Nylander (@snipeshow98), our top pick in the 2016 #NHLDraft in Buffalo, has been recalled from @AmerksHockey.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 @BuffaloSabres Lehner is in goal, Okposo is still sick. Alex Nylander will play tonight. Plan is for Nylander to start with Rodrigues & Foligno.
plenzmd1 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I hate the Leafs as much as anyone else, and am torn on if I want them to make the playoffs or not, or even win the game tonight. 1) I do want them win tonight and make the playoffs , as I am sick of people who say tanking does not work...it obviously does and the Leafs are a great example of how quick it can happen. Just casue it has not happened in Buffalo, does not mean the strategy was wrong. 2) I dont want them to win tonight...as they have back to back tomorrow against the Caps, then Tampa comes to Toronto, Then they finish with Pittsburgh and Columbus..who both could still be battling for home-ice in their opening round series against each other. Be fun to watch another epic Leaf collapse, like game 7 few years back.
