QCity Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Shattenkirk is going to command $7 mill plus on the open market. I bet he doesn't. I've seen 7x7 thrown around lately but I'm not buying it. I think he'll get a shade above Yandle's deal.
snafu Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Good points and I wouldn't mind seeing it go that way, but my premise was to take the option of protecting 3 defenseman. In my scenario, the only other options to protect are Risto, McCabe and Gorges. I think the front office would be thrilled to see Vegas take that contract off our hands (I would). His play so far isn't even close to the $5.7M AAV hit for the next 4 years. That's Shattenkirk money. I think a guy like Alzner makes more sense. His point production isn't the greatest, but he's very reliable in his own end. He's a lefty shot and fantastic on the PK (3rd in league). Justin Schultz is having a resurgence in Pitt this year, and while it may be hard to pry him out of that town, definitely should be on the radar. $Kulikov + $Fransen = Shattenkirk Shattenkirk is going to command $7 mill plus on the open market.

snafu Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 There's no way they protect Gorges. Exactly. That's my point. If you need to choose three then it must be Risto, McCabe and Bogosian. Plus seven forwards and one goalie.
ricojes Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) No Jack...not 1 on 3...woohooooo..do watcha gotta do kid. Wow, what a move and shot! Edited January 25, 2017 by ricojes
JoeF Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Kid is pretty good. Yep.. -- the Boston payback to Buffalo for Gronk....that one made me smile...
zevo Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Superstar goal...great will by the team....seems they are growing....keep it up boys.
ChevyVanMiller Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Sometimes I really hate this team. I hope you hung around until the end. What a game, what a three-game run.
QCity Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I just want to see them play one 60 minute game with the same sense of urgency they had for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period.
ChevyVanMiller Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Eichel's amazing game-winner. http://www.nhl.com/news/buffalo-sabres-nashville-predators-game-recap/c-286086344
bbb Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 The NHL is so !@#$ed up. We're in a 6 way tie for "last" and 3 games out of a playoff spot.

eball Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 The NHL is so !@#$ed up. We're in a 6 way tie for "last" and 3 games out of a playoff spot. Still don't know why the Eastern Conf teams are ok with having two more teams than the West for the same number of playoff spots. Make it three 3rd period comebacks in a row. I woke my wife up yelling when Jack scored the winner last night. Oops.
BringBackFergy Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I hope you hung around until the end. What a game, what a three-game run.Oops. I didn't. But just saw the OT. I still get frustrated watching them lose possession on a 5 on 3 pp. Ugh. Great resilience though. Eichel has some jets.
snafu Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 The NHL is so !@#$ed up. We're in a 6 way tie for "last" and 3 games out of a playoff spot. They might be better off focusing on getting up to second place in the division. Only 4 teams to deal with.
