You've seen the play many times by now. But you haven't heard the story behind it. Lehner, Kane & Risto explain: http://bufsabres.co/XvpxGH

Good points and I wouldn't mind seeing it go that way, but my premise was to take the option of protecting 3 defenseman. In my scenario, the only other options to protect are Risto, McCabe and Gorges.

I think the front office would be thrilled to see Vegas take that contract off our hands (I would). His play so far isn't even close to the $5.7M AAV hit for the next 4 years. That's Shattenkirk money. I think a guy like Alzner makes more sense. His point production isn't the greatest, but he's very reliable in his own end. He's a lefty shot and fantastic on the PK (3rd in league). Justin Schultz is having a resurgence in Pitt this year, and while it may be hard to pry him out of that town, definitely should be on the radar.

$Kulikov + $Fransen = Shattenkirk

Shattenkirk is going to command $7 mill plus on the open market.

There's no way they protect Gorges.

The NHL is so !@#$ed up. We're in a 6 way tie for "last" and 3 games out of a playoff spot.

Still don't know why the Eastern Conf teams are ok with having two more teams than the West for the same number of playoff spots.

Make it three 3rd period comebacks in a row. I woke my wife up yelling when Jack scored the winner last night. Oops.
