Doc
As a partial aside, I'm smh at the way the libs have successfully been able to lump all immigrants into one category, rather than separating them into "legal" and "illegal." Beyond Michelle's gaffe is the underlying tone that Repubs want to deport even legal immigrants, like the ones to whom she was talking.
K-9
Technically, she's correct; none of them were born in in the US. Additionally, not all of them were born in the 13 colonies, either. And her point about all of them choosing to live in a United States of America vs. a British colony, is an important one that we should never forget. K-9
She's not even close to being correct. Not technically, not metaphorically. Well, seeing as the US didn't exist when they were born, how can you explain they were born in the US? And again, several founders weren't born in North America, even, but that's beside the point. And nowhere did she say the founders were immigrants, only that they chose to live in the better land they created. Her comparison to immigrants who choose to live here is not out of line in that context.

Maybe if they stopped waving the Mexican Flag during their riots, people would be more convinced about their intention to become American.

Chef Jim
I'm not sure where to put this so I guess here is as good a place as any. On our way to Tortola and we were in the Miami airport. We wanted to buy some ground coffee at a store there and my wife asked thee clerk "how much for the coffee?" And she said "diez dollaros". When I gave her the money she counted my change back in Spanish. I looked at my wife and said "we've lost". If I wasn't so wiped out I would have said something and I'm disappointed I didn't. Were you wearing sombreros? I want to make sure there wasn't a legit reason for the Spanish exchange.. My wife is the one who asked "how much" and she is of German descent with red hair. Me in the other hand. When we lived in Miami in the early 80's I was very tanned and had a moustache. I was leaving a parking garage and the guy started to count back my change. One....two...three..(looks at me) quatro....cinqo.... I was taking my driver's test there and the woman at the DMV asks if I wanted the test in English or Spanish. I said "give it to me in Spanish. I like a challenge". Edited June 13, 2016 by Chef Jim
