PromoTheRobot Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 TT hit Shady in the hands for TD but for a Pats DB knocking it away.
John from Riverside Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 He completed a few throws after getting dinged in the shoulder area, yes. It certainly wasn't enough to negate the fact that they only scored 13 points, and that they didn't make enough plays to win the game. And there are VERY few people that need to have it be HOF or bust. The vast majority of us are cautiously optimistic I am NOT saying that was TT's best game by far... but BB has a habit of confusing QBs.....if everyone can agree to that then it should not be that long of a walk to say that it is not fair to blame TT for falling into that boat as well...its just reality. TT had a throw in that game to Shady that went RIGHT OFF HIS HANDS for a TD.....changes the whole complextion of the game if he catches that

TT had a throw in that game to Shady that went RIGHT OFF HIS HANDS for a TD.....changes the whole complextion of the game if he catches that Sure, Shady had a TD knocked out of his hands by McCourty; he also made 3 plays to gain 42 of the 56 yards that they gained on their only TD drive--I'd say he made up for it. I could also say that Taylor hitting one of several missed throws on the 4 consecutive punts after their only TD drive would've changed the complexity of the game. The point is that he didn't play well that game, and the issues that he had are ones that he'll need to improve upon if he wants to be able to beat the best teams in this league.

This pretty much sums it up, as far as I'm concerned. Enough !@#$ing excuses.
KollegeStudnet Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Overall, he is decent at everything. You look back at last season he was underrated by QB standards. Played at a high level. Challenged himself. Built chemistry with Watkins down the stretch. Hardly made mistakes. Just look forward and prove critics wrong. It is sad to see some writers saying he is a bottom 25-32 QB. Only thing I have is I wish he would have utilized his TE more in '15. Romans system, likes TE usage. I was shocked that Clay didn't put up large numbers last season. He is hard to shadow in coverage and his athletic ability with the ball can produce some YAC. I know that was a big thing in the offseason with Clay and Tyrod working out together to develop chemistry. Not to be a homer, but I'm locking Clay in as my starter in '16 for TE in fantasy. To avoid INJURY, I see Clay's role expand more of a security blanket role that he should be.

In the interest of accuracy........Shady did not have the ball in his hands when McCourty knocked it away. He bobbled a perfectly delivered throw and McCourty knocked the loose ball away. it was a great throw by Tyrod but when a pro bowl DB ends up on your RB on wheel route you've lost the matchup game and are just hoping for perfect execution. Shady is going to bobble that ball 9 times out of 10 because he's not Marshall Faulk or one of the pass catching specialists from the era of 3rd down RB's like Sammy Morris. The further he gets from the QB the harder it is for him to catch a pass delivered in the same position, a trait he shares with CJ Spiller. The 6' tall guys with that kind of talent are mostly playing WR or on defense nowadays.......catching or defending passes........where the emphasis/money is.

I honestly would rather not have Shady being the recepient of that throw at that spot of the field.....the over the middle throws to RB's look really great coming from TT......but wouldnt it be great if DEZ LEWIS was the WR trying to deep that away from the DB?

Yes........a big, talented WR who can get over the top and also make plays in the redzone using his height is the #1 need for the Bills. Next........ Barnes turn into another Snax at NT to address #2 need. And Seymour turns into a viable third starting caliber CB which is the Bills #3 need(because of Rex D tendencies). If those things happen Whaley is going to start looking a whole lot smarter............but until he starts stringing together a lot of successes he isn't going to stand out and the Bills are going to have a hard time separating themselves.

A pass rush and a RT would work too. How long has it been since we had a good RT? Peters before he moved to the left? Jonas Jennings? I honestly think that Pears looked better than the crew at RT last season. EDIT: Badol, do you consider the RT position more or less important in a passing league? Must he be more agile with the smaller defenses? Edited June 11, 2016 by Bill from NYC

Must he be more agile with the smaller defenses? I don't think the fact that it's more of a passing league matters as much as the fact that a dangerously mobile QB makes all OL look A LOT better than they probably are. I am still holding out hope that Seantrel Henderson turns into something. He was very talented. But like the depth chart shows I am thinking it's Jordan Mills job to lose. Whaley says he will be very disappointed if Kujo can't win the starting RT job. Mills isn't much as the starter but the starter I think the least of on the OL is John Miller. I hope he proves me wrong but I did not understand picking him that early......he was a 6th round type IMO.......undersized, not that athletic........I just don't see the attraction........but with Tyrod in the pocket teams that get too shiesty wrt interior pass rush run the risk of getting gashed for huge plays like the Titans got smoked by Taylor last year..........so Miller/Wood/Incognito get a lot of agreeable, gap controlling defenders to block instead of being ripped to shreds in pass defense and in the run game Roman puts them in position where they are blocking with leverage on angles and with momentum.......which makes them all the better there as well. It will be interesting to see how the AFC East adapts to Roman this year.........I know there was plenty of tape from his years at SF but it's not the same as being able to watch tape of the actual personnel executing the plays. Buffalo Barbarian Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Just Shady and Watkins and Karlos and a mobile QB. In other words, nothing. exactly
PromoTheRobot Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 exactly And Clay. Forgot him. Another nobody.
Agent 91 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Middle of the field. Intermediate game. Sorry. Had 2

Miller was pretty bad which was strange because I thought he looked good early in the season. Looking back, many of the great teams had a standout right tackle. Guys like Bob Brown and Erik Williams (I think the best ever) really made a huge difference on their teams. I never looked it up, but I always felt that teams that Jon Runyan played on did pretty well. Whaley can say what he wants about Kujo, but even as a huge Tide Fan I couldn't grasp that draft pick. Mills looked pretty bad to me and yes, Seantral IS talented, if he's ok.
3rdand12 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 First, I disagree. Second, its about numbers. Most NFL defenses are built to counter a traditional offense with a barely mobile QB which allows them to effectively play 11 v 10. When you have to commit a player to defend against the threat of a QB run, then you have one less guy in coverage. If Sammy commands your #1 CB and a safety over the top, and Tyrod gets his own man then either someone is left totally uncovered or you have one less guy near the line to play the run. Pick your poison. Since Tyrod demonstrated his ability to connect on the home run ball consistently and proved to be very dangerous when he pulls the ball down and runs, Sammy has proven to be almost un-coverable, and Shady is still as dangerous as ever, I think defensive coordinators are afraid of us and our offense's big play potential. This is my leaning. And well explained btw !
/dev/null Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 NFL Defensive Co-coordinators have a years worth of game footage and an off-season to study him Something they did not have last season
machine gun kelly Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm hopeful he's past it, but the middle of the field. We need more 2 second plays to evade the rush.
