boyst Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Vic just said on Sirius that no fortune 500 companies are in buffalo.... is that true?
Jamie Nails Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Going to guess that's right...In terms of HQ. General Mills and Ford are on the list but they aren't there with a corporate presence. The banks are regional at best too.

abc Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 M&T Bank is listed as 510 (they actually go past 500). Corning Inc is 313 down here in the Southern Tier.
boyst Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 If Orrville, Ohio can have a fortune 500 company, why can't buffalo? freaking smuckers.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Vic just said on Sirius that no fortune 500 companies are in buffalo.... is that true? Depends on what 'in' means
CherryCoke Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) None in the Fortune 500...but some not too far off....3 definitely in the top 1000: M&T Bank is ranked 510 (Buffalo) Moog is ranked 836 (East Aurora) Tops is ranked 849 (Williamsville) Rich Products is privately held, so does not make the list, but would be in the 800s Wegmans (Rochester based) is privately held so does not make this list, but based on their expansion outside of NY, would put them in the top 500 Edited June 7, 2016 by CherryCoke
GG Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Geico Moog Google Ingram Micro None have HQs there. Ingram is close as that's their east coast HQ, but not the true HQ That's a big part of the stadium luxury box problem.
Heitz Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 http://fortune.com/2014/06/04/where-to-find-the-fortune-500/ Fortune needs to hire someone to work on their infographics - that one is not useless enough. o_O At least let me zoom and click on the dots to see the company. I'm pretty sure I have an intern here that could make that happen...
TaskerTough Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Geico Moog Google Ingram Micro MOOG is in WNY?? If MOOG was a Fortune 500 company, the world would be a much better place. Edited June 7, 2016 by TaskerTough
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) I work at Ingram - we got bought by some Chinese corporation so it will no longer be on the fortune 500. I think there are more employees in Buffalo than in Irvine, but all of the senior leadership is in California. Edited June 7, 2016 by dneveu
keepthefaith Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I work at Ingram - we got bought by some Chinese corporation so it will no longer be on the fortune 500. That's sad in my book that the company was sold to a Chinese group. Mr Ingram if still alive would probably not be happy, but when you go public, you subject the company to a lot of external forces.
Heitz Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Buffalo logos from Aaron Draplin (with a couple surprising company logos in there)
QCity Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 None have HQs there. Ingram is close as that's their east coast HQ, but not the true HQ That's a big part of the stadium luxury box problem. Yup.
Best Player Available Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 3M owns O-cello sponge factory in Buffalo NY. Easily a fortune 500 in fact at one time and maybe still a dow 30 corp.
metzelaars_lives Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Buffalo logos from Aaron Draplin (with a couple surprising company logos in there) Good to see they included Cannibal Corpse in there. Now we're talkin proud.
