26CornerBlitz Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 (edited) @TyDunne Outcast Jerel Worthy has found new hope on the #Bills' D-Line: "I don’t feel like there’s anything I can’t do." ... https://t.co/ossSEQbVlJ He hopes the fifth time’s the charm. He hopes this defense — Rex Ryan’s 3-4 — is the perfect fit once and for all. Inside the ADPRO Sports Training Center after a minicamp practice this week, beads of sweat pour from Jerel Worthy’s black skullcap. The 2012 second-round pick cannot stop grinning, excitement revving his voice to top speed. Green Bay. New England. Kansas City. Detroit. Nobody wanted him. So here he is on the Buffalo Bills' defensive line... trying to prove 'em all wrong. Edited June 16, 2016 by 26CornerBlitz
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 According to Rex we are running a 5-2 front this year, among other fronts, but he specifically mentioned 5-2. A 5-2 is an attacking 1 gap responsibility defense. Images for clarity. A typical base 3-4 alignment, this isn't what we run: A typical base 3-4 under (5-2) alignment: And so fans can see the difference between a 3-4 under and a 4-3 under. Not a big difference. This is the base defense we ran under Pettine. Dareus played the shade NT. Read more about it here. https://trojanfootballstatistics.wordpress.com/2013/08/16/clancy-pendergast-the-5-2-defensive-front/ So they're back to attacking 1 gap? GOOD!
John from Riverside Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I wonder if drafting Ragland might be causing the move to a 1 gap attacking defense When you have that big MLB that can stack and shed behind you........perhaps you let your DL attack a little more?
