Graham wasn't good enough to be the man absent AW. I thought he was very highly suspect last year.

But, as I mentioned before, wasn't he our leading tackler?

no. No he's not. He says it talking sideways. He backs in to the statement either bringing someone else with him or leaving the bus to hit someone else. He doesn't take full credit or voich for mistakes. Belicheck does. Tomlin does. Riverea does.

Fisher and lewis don't. They do it like Rex. They don't stand there to take the sword. They don't sir there to take the brunt of the burden. That is what a leader does right or wrong, faulted or not.

Boy, given the outrage over Whaley's comments this week and given what we know about the nature of Bills fans in general, not hard to imagine a universe in which an admission of culpability would be used against him!

REX: Well, but that’s my fault. That was the difference. That was a mistake that I made. It was the exact opposite of that. Nobody told me to do this. I screwed up, and that’s totally on me. So if people lost a little faith in it, or whatever, I can understand. I should be doubted, because I made a mistake in judgment. But just go back and look at the history. You are going to get the real deal this year, and we’ll see how it goes. I know how it has gone my whole career.

I'm inclined to believe were a zillion miles ahead of last year. Bill Polian on siriusxm said it takes a year to install the Rex Ryan D properly and you can't judge the team based on last year.

Whether that'll translate on the field who knows, but it's a factor for sure.

He definitely had his share of bad plays but he was far from the biggest disappointment on the defense. The whole defense sucked.

Graham is a very good guy to have on the roster because of his versatility. (And he's from B-Lo :) )

Greg Bedard said much the same after breaking down our games vs. the Patriots last year. Hopefully another offseason and some personnel changes make the difference. It was a radio interview so I'd have to hunt for w link. He said Ryan was limited with looks and formations and the D was a shell of what he was accustom to seeing in NY. (Keep in mind he was breaking down Jets/Pats games during RR tenure).

yes, i know this quote and that's my issue. he didn't get in front of it. he didn't say anything in the season. he kept on saying he was going to change things and that they'd get better and keep trying to give us kool aid. we kept hearing that we are catching on to the system, it needs buy in, etc etc. then we heard players contradicting that - made it more confusing.

it wasn't until the season was over week 15/16 that rex finally started to call himself out in the slightest.

saying this after the fact. saying this after we lost 3 defensive starters. yes i consider leodis a starter because of how the nfl plays and injury factor. bradham and mario - starters. and we lost what was once considered by all of us to be the best defensive specialist we had - donne henderson. rex, saying all of this after all of that... its just not easy to swallow.

my personal belief is obvious. it's not easy to swallow because rex ryan is **** and i don't swallow bull ****.

i have no problem with what whaley said. taken out of context and taken 100% at topical value in a sound bite it sounds... like it sounds.

taken as the reality of what we ask 250 lbs. men to do - it's akin to gladiator and caveman lifestyle.

Are you saying that Rex has not taken blame when things are not going well

Come on man.....he is usually the FIRST one to say that in his press conferences

did i say he has not taken blame? he takes some of the blame. it's a very big contextual thing that's very complicated about the english language and the psychology of what one means when they say and how they say it.

basically, it's not worth spending my time to write it because everyone is so steadfast in what they believe. but i true leader never lets the criticism get to the team. a true leader bares all of the burden. a true leader is a protector and never lets the wolves get to the flock. a true leader is kim jung un.

He was missing Aaron Williams. He should be better this year if Williams comes back to form. Williams was ok at best as a CB, but was a heck of a good safety.

Agreed.

Losing Aaron Williams last year, really hurt. Graham was left with Rambo & Duke, and it was not pretty.

Graham would have been a better player if the team didn't go from 54 to 21 sacks, and put 100 million dollar linemen into pass coverage.

Not that it's important mind you, but do ya think there will ever be one thing upon which we agree?

True. Gilmore and Darby are guys that can stick with their man in the absence of pressure, Graham is not. But to his point, I don't think they were planning on using Graham they way they had to once AW went down. Graham was solid in run defense and blitz packages while struggling in coverage. I think AW was supposed to be the guy roaming the back end. Don't think he would have let that last Jags TD happen if he were playing that game.

They are good players but given time, a pro receiver will get open. Rex's vaunted defense simply sucked. There is no other way to say it.

He was a sure tackler, but I think his coverage faultered a little last year. I recall him being the one that let the Jags take back the lead at the end of the game. Could simply be the transition to safety, could be the system, who knows? I like the guy though. Hope he steps up this year.

I dont know man. Looked good there 2 years ago.

when has Rex done that?

You saw he said LEADER right

Rex said we're a zillion miles ahead of last year....who will be the first to call him out?

Keep dareus at nose and I wonder where my money goes
