DC Tom
Too bad for all the boys that they're eligible to be charged as an adult with statutory rape on their 18th birthday, no matter how old they are now. [/Florida]

unbillievable
This is being spun as both male rape oppression, and female sexual empowerment.
KD in CA
It sounds like 15 may have had 20. Pretty sad, that's one messed up kid and now messed up even more.
DC Tom
Say what? Happened to someone I knew. Had sex with a 15 year old when he was 17, parents objected, cops waited until his 18th birthday and arrested and charged him as an adult for statutory rape. I'd like to see the law that says it's okay to retroactively charge someone with statutory rape.

I want to meet the dumbass public defender who didn't challenge it on those grounds, but instead advised a guilty plea in exchange for a six-month sentence and life on the sex offenders list. It was really !@#$ed up.

I'd like to see the law that says it's okay to retroactively charge someone with statutory rape. Teenagers can be charged as adults for crimes but not always done but once the charge is made when teenager already is an adult it is a lot easier to get charge made that way. It is part of the silly rules of legal system that laywers exploit. Personally with 2 years +/- 11 months difference in age if it was concentual then there should not have been charges but laymakers make stupid laws very often. unbillievable
I'd like to see the law that says it's okay to retroactively charge someone with statutory rape. It's called a statute of limitations. Prosecutors can wait to charge someone until they have enough evidence.

unbillievable
If two minors have sex, it's still statutory rape? yes. In some cases, both teenagers are charged with statutory rape.
Saxum
yes. In some cases, both teenagers are charged with statutory rape. It is the way the laymakers punish them for what they get in trouble with press when they do it.
