Andy Benoit podcast uses a 3 person voting panel with a combination of film study and analytics. Bills have a strong showing and if you have time to listen they talk about interesting stuff on how the development of Darby changed how they will plan to use Gilmore. I don't remember what part of the podcast they start with the list but it was about 1/3 through. Bills and Broncos only teams to have 2 Top 15 CBs.

1. Patrick Peterson

2. Richard Sherman

3. Chris Harris, Jr.

4. Josh Norman

5. Darrelle Revis

6. Stephon Gilmore

7T Aqib Talib

7T Desmond Trufant

9. Jason Verrett

10. Joe Haden

11. Malcolm Butler

12. Vontae Davis

13. Marcus Peters

14. Ron Darby

15T Delvin Breaux

15T Darius Slay

I feel like there's a split here on Gilmore, and not in the 1-2 crazies trolling but a good chunk on each side.

This, maybe even a touch higher but I'm not going to split hairs on subjective stuff that I don't have a fully developed opinion on (can't say I've watched ALL of 2015 revis), is a fair spot.

I was surprised how high Gilmore ended up only because he isn't talked about much on a league-wide scale. Janoris Jenkins, whose contract many of us think he will emulate, was listed on "others receiving votes"

Agreed. With the exception of the loons, I think most Bills fans knew last year we possess an outstanding tandem of Press Cover CB's. A significant contributor to the big drop off in Sacks was less Rex's scheme and more that opposition offenses chose to throw quickly. Gilmore & Darby are perfect for this.

I used to really think Joe Haden was good but right now I wouldn't include him in the top 10. They mentioned that he wasn't a consensus top 15 among their voters and one was voting him based on his career as an aggregate.

I listened to the podcast this morning. Gilmore is a very good CB who has room to get even better. The personnel people in the league, along with OBJ, know this and the Bills better not let him get to the open market. Looking forward to seeing Darby climb even higher on this list after what he showed last season.

I think CB play has been severely hampered by rule changes. IF Gilmore is the 6th best CB I feel that is more an indictment on CB play. I also think Darby showed more in small doses this year than Gilmore has over the same period of time.

My opinion only: too many penalties

Well....if you mean stupid penalties, for sure. Otherwise, only few more than Sherman and Norman.

I like Trufant's game a lot. I think that he's one of the most underrated players in the NFL.

Probably because nobody watches Falcons games.

the panel noted that he lacked quick twitch ability. Penalties and lack of discipline were not mentioned but should have been.

I think Peterson and Revis are too high, but other than that those rankings make complete sense to me.

Agree on Revis. He got beat a lot last year. And Peterson was overrated as a CB early in his career but I think he was really good last year.

And obviously this idiot doesn't know football. Gilmore gave up catches to Wrs last year. He sucks.

Darby and Gilmore are terrific. However, Gilmore needs to stay healthy.

Imagine how good both of these guys could be with a pass rush?

Yeah, healthy is a concern. He is a really good physical CB. His injuries are legit though. He needs to drink more milk.

But yeah, with our 2014 and Gilmore and Darby, our defense should have been amazing last year. :(

The injury risk can be mitigated by improving his crude tackling technique.

Yeah, it definitely can be better. In general, most cbs (minus Antonie Winfield) are bad tacklers. Maybe he should use the Deion technique.

Gilmore is a very good CB, but I think the odds are less than 50-50 that he re-signs in Buffalo. He will want a mega deal and the Bills will be giving so much to Taylor if he has a good season that I don't see how they can keep Gilmore too. Now, if Taylor bombs next season then I think the chances of signing Gilmore go up considerably.

?? - I don't know Revis finished with regard to stats, but through week 8 he was 2nd in the nfl by mid-november. I thought he played well this past season despite a bad final game. There are 16 games, not simply 2 against the bills. I see a lot of jets games ....

No idea what will happen, but the Bills track record under Ralph of signing CBs to mega-deals was, well, imaginary. They drafted to replace veteran CBs with 1st and 2nd year guys. It was a revolving door position. A concept that thrilled my friend Big Apple Bill to no end. B-) (Sorry Bill.)
