TakeYouToTasker Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 This just reeks of some sort of rookie hazing ritual where former 1st round picks entering their third year jump kick the current 1st rounder in the shoulder. Thanks to Whaley's foresight this won't be an issue next season.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 This entire team is glass. Gilmore goes out for the season on a simple shoulder tackle. Taylor, Watkins, McCoy, pretty much questionable every single game. Kyle Williams every year. Now Swaq Lawson. There's a quote about guys who get hurt a lot... something to the effect that if you're always getting hurt, you're not good enough to be playing in the NFL. It's not bad luck, it's that you're not a good enough athlete to avoid getting injured. The last bit is interesting. I remember when the bills under Jauron fielded an untalented bend but don't break defense that was frequently bulldozed and also annihilated by injuries. I started to think it was symptomatic at the team level of guys being lower on the talent scale and thus having to really push hard to compete at the NFL level, causing more propensity to get hurt. Could be something to that... Sammy though has nothing close to a talent deficit, so it's certainly not a universal law even if it's somewhat true en mass.

BuffaloMatt Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 6 week injury, back in time for camp. Wonder how he broke it. My sources tell me kicking Shaq in the shoulder.

What a Tuel Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 "The most important ability is availability." Good thing they are available almost 90% of the time.
dave mcbride Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I mean it kind of sucks, I guess. For him. But not really a big deal, eh? He'll be able to play, but don't be surprised if it affects him in some way (explosiveness, etc.).

Goodwin is an olympic level athlete, just doesn't have the musculoskeletal talent to withstand NFL punishment. I'm afraid Watkins' issues are following a similar trend. CommonCents Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 He'll be able to play, but don't be surprised if it affects him in some way (explosiveness, etc.). A foot for a WR is always a concern. Dez came back, wasn't the same and had another procedure. Edelman came back and just went for his second procedure and is now in a walking boot. Julio Jones had a bunch of complications before he came back. Durant had 3 surgeries on his broken foot. One good thing here is the same surgeon that worked with Julio is now working with Sammy, hopefully that helps. Biggest thing is he needs to rest and let it heal fully, heck stay out until Sept. don't rush back.
26CornerBlitz Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 @RaulSports Week after #Patriots WR Julian Edelman had surgery on his foot, we find out Danny Amendola had knee & ankle surgery
ndirish1978 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I'm disappointed this in thread. When I saw the story on pft I thought the board would explode, only 4 pages?! Come on guys, we are way more reactionary than that!
downunderbill Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) @RaulSports Week after #Patriots WR Julian Edelman had surgery on his foot, we find out Danny Amendola had knee & ankle surgery Kraft is cheap. He probably used Chinese made galvanized screws. Edited May 16, 2016 by downunderbill
Dorkington Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Timetable is ready for training camp, and I'd be a fan of them holding him out of harms way a little longer than that. Sucks, but I'm not going to freak out.

John from Riverside Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I would like to think that there are not people out there not all giddy about today's bad news.... but We all know that is not the case....there are some that would rather be right on a message board then the team actually doing well
TaskerTough Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 My gut says this is bad. Sammy is precious porcelain.. They're underplaying it, foot injuries are notoriously finicky... and metal screws get cold in the winter. I expect McCoy and Sammy to limit themselves all preseason, claiming tightness, injuries, etc... but this isn't that.
