Obama's Foreign Policy

Recommended Posts

So the administration claims that in 36 hours, the nuclear deal was implemented, the prisoners were released, and cash was transferred to start paying off an existing liability that the Hague decided on...and these three things are completely independent of each other?

Didn't Ollie North do time for thst one in the '80's. Guess they really do want their foreign policy back.

Suspended sentence.

He was convicted of: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and ordering the destruction of documents. Or as Hillary calls it: Tuesday.

Really...never mind convicted, how she's not even charged with a crime is !@#$ing amazing.

Talking fallout from Khan and Pat Smith controversies, and the media's handling, on the Kelly File tonight

How about a timely story?

Like we now have to fight ISIS in Libya because of Hillary's judgement.

or report that U.S. sent $400 million to Iran as 4 Americans detained in Tehran were freed.

I'm amazed this $400M story to Iran isn't all over the news today.

Perhaps if Trump could take some time out of his day to pound on it instead of fighting everyone in the GOP.

Ahhh, who am I kidding. He'll probably kick a puppy today. And his fans will go wild.

THE REAL PRICE OF THE IRAN RANSOM:

Whether ransom or quick “return of Iranian assets,” it appears the Iranians associate the $400 million they received via airlift with holding hostages.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce: “Hundreds of millions in the pockets of a terrorist regime means a more dangerous region, period. And paying ransom only puts more American lives in jeopardy.” The report adds: “Since the cash was airlifted, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has arrested two more Iranian-Americans.”

Remember, in 2008 Obama promised “Smart Diplomacy.”

Back in the '70s, France and Iran were involved in a joint program to enrich uranium for nuclear power. (The corporate entities are slightly byzantine; suffice to say that Iran owned 40% of a Franco-Iranian program, which gave it a 10% stake in a European program). After the Iranian Revolution, France stopped providing uranium to Iran under the program, and didn't return Iran's investment (about $1.2B). In response, Iran started taking hostages and assassinating people via terrorist proxies to put pressure on France to return the investment. The first few kidnappings, France negotiated their release, including some payment on the outstanding investment.

Iran stopped the assassinations then, when they realized they can't ransom a body and kidnapping was a lot more lucrative. Kidnappings went way up after that.

Not on the main landing page. Not on the World page. Not on the US page. Not on the Politics page.

Paper of Record, my arse.

I'll bet there'll be three pages dedicated to wedding engagements of the Hamptons set in this weekend's issue, though.

Maybe the other outlets will think that this is real news. What are the odds?

From WSJ:

Justice Department Officials Raised Objections on U.S. Cash Payment to Iran

Senior Justice Department officials objected to sending a plane loaded with cash to Tehran at the same time that Iran released four imprisoned Americans, but their objections were overruled by the State Department, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Maybe because it was news in January
