I'm not suggesting that Ragland is replacing him but I'm sure that it had to fire him up, especially after Rex publicly challenged him to be more vocal. No matter what the Bills should benefit greatly by drafting Ragland, Brown should be very dedicated to being the best player that he can be.

Motivated to play better, learn the playbook and study it like a virgin in HS studies a porno.

I hope that he "feels" as though he should learn the playbook better than he did last year . . . .

To be fair to him it would have helpes if the calls came in anything like on time.

I think he is calling Eagles QB Bradford for advice.....

seriously what was up with that? It happened on both sides of the ball too. that **** was aggravating.

He seems like a good kid and I imagine if competitive will want to show he can be a great tandem on the inside to stop the run, and cover TE's.

I'm not worried about it. These guys are competitors, well except for someone like Sam Bradford who wants to be handed a job with no competition. He's made an absolute fool of himself.

Considering there will be 2 middle LBs in a 3-4 I don't think it bothers him at all.

Wait! Rex is playing a 3-4 defense with two LBs in the middle? Is this breaking news?

The more I read about Rex's defense, in the quotes from previous players and coaches, the more I believe Preston's biggest "problem" last year was simply his mild-mannered personality and hesitance to take command. When Rex "called him out" at the combine this year he didn't question Preston's ability or intelligence, he said he needs to come out of his shell and lead the defense.

Now, I know the play calls were coming in late and that's got to change, but I think Preston will have his head on straight this season and in playing beside Ragland the Bills will have an excellent 1-2 punch in the middle of that defense.

I'm guessing he felt stupid and timid. Again.

I know Whaley said he'd be playing alongside Ragland and I know that makes the most sense but let's not forget that 12 months ago Whaley thought his star studded defense would be a good unit. Whaley has built a viable unit on paper again but the draft is over and the on field stuff falls to Rex. I'm sure he took it as proof of Brown's timidity that he didn't storm the draft room and demand the Bills pick Reed instead of Ragland. I'm guessing Rex sees Brown on his way out despite what Whaley might think. If they bring that Hawking kid from Oxford in for a tryout you'll know the writing is on the wall.
