26CornerBlitz Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 It doesnt look like a lot of savings....but it looks like it is structured with Sammy Watkins deal looming It's a helluva lot better than a $13M+ cap hit.
Deranged Rhino Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 It doesnt look like a lot of savings....but it looks like it is structured with Sammy Watkins deal looming Agreed and it seems like a sound plan, though I still want to see the structure before I totally weigh in. Why save cap money this year (when the roster is already close to filled) or next year (when they had 50 million + in space not counting this extension)? Seems like smart cap management to take the hit this year and next and give yourself flexibility down the line. Especially, as you point out, with #14's second contract getting closer.
eball Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 This wasn't a deal to free up cap now...it is forward thinking. Well done, OBD. It's a helluva lot better than a $13M+ cap hit. Actually, that's what it still is. I think there will be modest savings next year.

Heitz Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Can anyone tell me what a Cordy's Glenn is? I'm pretty sure it's a little valley somewhere in WNY (near OP, I assume), that they're going to make a little longer. Named after old man Cordy, I believe... Might I add - Ammmmmmmmerica, Ammmmmmmmerica!! Well done OBD on both Cordy and Cordy's!!
nucci Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 YESSS! I really thought he was going to walk next year. why did you think that? Whaley said it was a priority and they have been working on it for a while now.

NoSaint Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 It's a helluva lot better than a $13M+ cap hit. It's a 13m average, so it's kind of 6 of one half dozen of the other barring immediate spending elsewhere
Saxum Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I think you mean Jason's Peter. Yes Jason's Peter is jealous Terry has Kim.

YoloinOhio Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 @spotrac Cordy Glenn LT $ Rankings $13M AAV: 2nd (T. Williams $13.6M) $36M GTD: 2nd $65M Total Value: 4th
Heitz Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Stephon's Gilmore just reacted I hope this is a trend that continues on TBD. I suppose "Stephon's Gilmore" is too long for the back of a custom jersey?
nucci Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Glad that it's done. The Bills are paying the right people. yep, cap keeps increasing so you will see bigger contracts
NoSaint Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 That's not the guaranteed money. Right but it sounds like the next few years have a whole bunch guaranteed. If we shifted some cap hit into year 2-3 instead of 1, it doesn't make much difference unless we spend extra this year was all I was saying.

YoloinOhio Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) @tydunne One other detail on the Cordy Glenn contract per a source: It's 5 years, $60M. Bumps up to $65M with incentives Source told me it is $26.5 million guaranteed. Edited May 3, 2016 by YoloinOhio
