Deranged Rhino Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Indeed--there's very little cap room to be gained from cutting him after 2016, so he's virtually guaranteed to be here through then (barring a career-ending injury, of course). Agreed. Same with 2017. They'd only save 1 million from cutting him while eating 8 million in dead cap -- more reasonable than this year, especially with the amount of cap room they're projected to have but it's still a long shot. Then, after that, it gets much easier for the Bills to walk away.

boyst Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Again you are incorrect. They will not be "paying him a lot not to be a Bill" -- have you looked at his contract? It's structured to be very easy to walk away from him after the 2017 season, just as he is closing in on 30 years of age.ohhh after 2017 they won't have to pay him anything because it was structured that well?
Deranged Rhino Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 ohhh after 2017 they won't have to pay him anything because it was structured that well? It helps to look at the contract before you try to rail against it. Man, step your game up, Boyst. You're takes have been hot garbage lately. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/lesean-mccoy/

But, now we are paying for it. We have 3 good backs on the roster not named McCoy. We could have drafted another earlier. Saved money, kept a LB who would be depth at worst, or just trade for a 4th? 5th? Sure, McCoy will do things that will be amazing next year. But so would other backs. Look at Gillislee. McCoy was not a factor in the most important games. It helps to look at the contract before you try to rail against it. Man, step your game up, Boyst. You're takes have been hot garbage lately. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/lesean-mccoy/ anything over $3mm cap hit for a RB that's going to be over 30 is too damn much. This is why you draft EB's and never give them a second contract. They're never worth OT. Agree to disagree if you'd like. But we can wait until 2018 and watch McAvoy and judge then
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac-rkEN7idM He beat 7 defenders that were poorly blocked or not blocked at all...

Unless you consider the seconds after turning 30 to be "over 30," in which case, technically you'd be correct.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) the position is devalued...any 7th round back can do this....just plug the right RB in the right system...you don't need talent Lol nice... Who can guess happens on that play with CJ spiller? Edited May 4, 2016 by over 20 years of fanhood
RyanC883 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 We definitely need him. When healthy he is a beast. The issue will come when TT needs to be resigned assuming he plays well again.
YoloinOhio Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Lol nice... Who can guess happens on that play with CJ spiller?RIP CJ
RyanC883 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Yes McCoy has ability other backs don't and he is a top ten back. And if this was madden or the circumstances were different he is damn good. But we are going to pay him a lot not to be a Bill in a few years. We are going to see his production drop off. He isn't a utility back nor a true down field threat catching. He can make stuff happen. But he's nor worth the price he may not be worth the price next year if Williams plays well, and if we need to sign TT to a long term deal. But for 2016-17, he is absolutely worth it.

Gillislee is getting up there too! Best not get too attached. I can't believe Karlos Williams is almost 26 either. Why would they draft such an old man?

But we can wait until 2018 and watch McAvoy and judge then he's fantastic to watch play and he's not robbed the cap enough to prevent other significant roster moves. I'm sure they can cut and run if he drops off, but what's the harm in allocating cap to a phenomenal back and receiver when your QB is nearly free and you've re-signed all the big players you sought. eball Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 Again, fellas, think about the original question only and stop getting ahead of yourselves. 4.88% of this year's cap. Less than 1/20th (there are 22 offensive and defensive starters). For a superstar RB. It's been entertaining following this.

John from Riverside Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I think we need all of them...and there is no reason to be lamenting Shady being on the team. A very good back.
starrymessenger Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 If Shady is healthy this year hes gonna tear the league to shreds....im thinkin 1500+ yards and 10 total TDs. This guy has a huge ego and he needs to feed it, all the off season bull and doubts combined with an injury filled first year in Buffalo are fueling his fire. I too think McCoy will have a big year 2016. Looking forward to it.
