Deranged Rhino Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Yeah, I think it's wildly premature to say--definitively--that this is his last season. But I don't dismiss the possibility. Barring injury, I will.
The Big Cat Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Barring injury, I will. Okay. What if he turns in 12 games like he did last year? Does that qualify as "injury?"
Deranged Rhino Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Okay. What if he turns in 12 games like he did last year? Does that qualify as "injury?" If he misses time because of injury, then it qualifies as "injury" yes.
eball Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 When the Bills make the playoffs, let's sit around and question the personnel decisions of other teams. But you know that's not how it works.
John from Riverside Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 This is gonna be a big prove it year for Shady....... When healthy he is one of the main cogs of this team but Off the field he is an issue He got hurt in his first year with us I just get this sense that bills mgt is a bit irritated with him.....and they showed it by drafting a RB this year (who might be very good)
BADOLBILZ Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 The Bills have enough cap next year to sign Taylor, Gilmore, and Glenn without touching Shady's deal. If they cut Shady next year it's almost 8 million in dead cap money for a million in cap savings. If they're going to cut Shady for financial reason it'll be after the '17 season. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/lesean-mccoy/ Not a chance. He ran for 800 yards and had several injuries after complaining that a foot injury hindered his explosiveness in 2014..........small back, wear and tear, age.........he's going to get cut but it's just as likely that it will be for football reasons. Last year you were just CERTAIN that he was going to rush for a ton of yards......that was your argument when I pointed out his low ypc........that he was one of the top 3 RB in the NFL because he produced over 16 games. Well......he didn't do it. Not close. So what are you predicting this year? And what about the other backs? You think they are going to drop off? You think they are going to not give them carries? Explain your position on the fact that the other guys average 25-30% more production per touch and score most of the TD's on many less carries? You do realize that even players who are ACTUALLY impactful get cut because of age and salary concerns?
Deranged Rhino Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 So what are you predicting this year? You do realize that even players who are ACTUALLY impactful get cut because of age and salary concerns? Now you're dodging the question. All I've predicted is that he'll play on this team through 2017 barring injury. So what are you willing to bet against that? You believe an elite RB will be out of the league before he turns 30 -- I'm not even asking you to back that up. I'm just asking what you're willing to wager that Shady is a Bill this year and next year?

When he was healthy he looked every bit the RB we needed. Still....its a prove it year for him.....his sense of entitlement is really frustrating.

John from Riverside Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I did. No....u were guessing. Shady has been a extremely durable back.
BADOLBILZ Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 When the Bills make the playoffs, let's sit around and question the personnel decisions of other teams. Can you imagine if the Bills hired a head coach and he came in and won 10 games in each of his first two seasons?
FireChan Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 No....u were guessing. Shady has been a extremely durable back. That's exactly why I predicted it. No one escapes injury for 4 straight years. Regression to the mean.

Freddie's Dead Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 His name is Mike Gillislee. Not Gillsile, Gillislie, Gillslie, or Gillsie. Here's a mnemonic (memory aid) for you. Think porn star Jamie Gillis and departed tight end Lee Smith. Gillislee. Simple.
Deranged Rhino Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 And that does it for this thread. The original topic presented by E was whether or not Shady is worth less than 5% of the cap on this team. Unless you have an agenda or a grudge, I think the answer is pretty obvious that for this team he is. There's so much needless consternation about his contract as if it's the end of the world. It isn't. They structured it so they could get the most out of him during his peak (the guy is 27, not 37) and allows them to walk away just as he nears the traditional 30 year old wall for RBs. Is McCoy worth less than 5% of the Bills cap this year? 100% imo.

Freddie's Dead Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Is McCoy worth less than 5% of the Bills cap this year? 100% imo. That wasn't the question. The OP's question was whether it was appropriate. While the salary cap spent for McCoy is appropriate, his 2015 production needs significant improvement to become "worth it". <insert picture of Bugs Bunny splitting hares> It's a guess, every time. Hence the mnemonic Edited May 3, 2016 by Freddie's Dead

Go for it! If you want to wager......let me know what it's worth to YOU. What is this a double dog dare?
The Big Cat Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 No my premise is the Bills don't lose a lot if anything at all by going to a RB by committee in Karlos/Gillislie/and now Jonathan Williams.... And that money could be used else where such as a another WR opposite Sammy and a starting caliber RT/RG. Yes, but your premise has been roundly refuted by all available data. Do you care to present something to support your claims? The original topic presented by E was whether or not Shady is worth less than 5% of the cap on this team. Barring injury? How is that not pertinent.....he finished the season on IR. Man, don't be such a vag! Go for it! If you want to wager......let me know what it's worth to YOU.
