prissythecat Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Why wouldn't the Bills exercise EJ's option at this point. Didn't Whaley call him the best backup in the NFL? If that's the case, we should be locking him up.

If that's the case, we should be locking him up. At at the price tag of more than $11M? No! @RapSheet The #Browns are not picking up the fifth-year option on LB Barkevious Mingo, source said. Needs to have a big year with the new regime
26CornerBlitz Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 @AP_NFL Jets pick up option on Sheldon Richardson, decline on Dee Milliner http://apne.ws/26LLK0f @DWAZ73
Nanker Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 EJ could still be here in 2017 and beyond. He's just not getting hot money for doing it. I could see him sticking around. He might not get a lot of chances elsewhere.
26CornerBlitz Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 @mattvensel #Vikings make it official that they've exercised the fifth-year options for Xavier Rhodes and Sharrif Floyd. No mention of CP84 in release. @caplannfl #Raiders are not expected to use their 5th-year option for CB D.J. Hayden, source said.

GunnerBill Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I'd offer the Browns EJ for Mingo straight up. They have 5 QBs. They won't take it.

eball Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 They have 5 QBs. They won't take it. The Browns have 5 QBs and 142 WRs. They will be the first team in history to go one-deep at every other position. #Moneyball
GunnerBill Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 The Browns have 5 QBs and 142 WRs. They will be the first team in history to go one-deep at every other position. #Moneyball Obvious eball. WRs score more touchdowns than anyone. Why have a DT? How many touchdowns do they score?
That's No Moon Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 They have 5 QBs. They won't take it. Bob Griffin Josh McCown Connor Shaw Austin Davis Cody Kessler You're probably right about that, though I'd rather have EJ than at least 3 of those guys. Wonder if a mid-round pick next year could get it done.

Wonder if a mid-round pick next year could get it done. They'll keep Griffin, McCown, and Shaw. They'll put Kessler on the PS and release Davis.

26CornerBlitz Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 Reports: Bills decline QB Manuel's 2017 option
mannc Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 This fifth year option thing seems like a pretty reliable way to determine whether or not a guy was a bust, or at least a disappointment. Looks like O-linemen are not faring too well, including the two "can't miss" guards (Warmack and Cooper) who were drafted much higher than guards are usually taken. Seems like O-line might be one of the more difficult positions to project at the next level.
Dorkington Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 EJ's playing for his career this upcoming pre-season.
26CornerBlitz Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 EJ's playing for his career this upcoming pre-season. He'll be in the NFL with some team after this season given how bad the backups are in the league. @NFLTotalAccess Here are some players who had their 5th-yr option picked up:
