26CornerBlitz Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 @ChrisBrownBills Whaley- Cardale is a blank canvas. Got an off. staff that can help mold him. #Bills Whaley- EJ Manuel is our No. 2 QB. #Bills Whaley - we did a lot of background work on Jones. Monos- didnt play that bad this year. Wants to be great. #Bills Monos- we had Jones here on a visit and coaches felt he had something to work with. #Bills Monos- Jones is an easy guy to write off but we put a lot of work in on him and we feel good about him. #Bills Monos- Jones need to work on reading defenses and footwork. #Bills Cardale- I felt they were interested. Coach Ryan was very honest with me. Told me if they had a chance to get me he would. #Bills Cardale- I feel like my ceiling is really high. Aren't many guys i'd rather have grooming me than #Bills QBs coach David Lee.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Wasted pick. A guy who only started a handful of games in college. At this point why even bother taking a QB. Had to be a better use for a 4th round pick. Agree.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 Whaley's first whiff this draft. Wasted pick who maybe...maybe...makes the practice squad. He'll be on the 53. No way they expose him to waivers.
nucci Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Gotcha, but my post was a direct response to someone wanting to block a poster for not liking the pick, that you quoted. ok
Fan in Chicago Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 it's official Whaley has no clue how to pick QBs I don't follow college football but your post just made me feel a whole lot better about this pick
The Frankish Reich Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) It seems when the Bills evaluate QB's they look at physical size and pretty much nothing else. Well, there is something in common here with EJ and Cardale -- both big, strong armed, mobile. Both not known for reading defenses ... Mayock's comps were Culpepper (good) and Skelton (not). I've also seen Logan Thomas (so far, not good). Edited April 30, 2016 by The Frankish Reich
mannc Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 So the backup plan to Tyrod Taylor is Cardale Jones. LMAO. Right, because Cardale certainly hasn't proven he can win coming off the bench . . .
Sisyphean Bills Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Sorry, I should have said "Whaley" Actually, Rex Ryan is a known proponent of the idea that you break ties between players with similar draft grades by taking the bigger player. Jones is bigger than Prescott, so ...
Spun Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Cardale Jones led the Buckeyes to the National Championship two seasons ago as a third stringer. He played very well on a phenomenal team against Oregon. Last season, he struggled. He was inconsistent. He never started a full season so we can assume that he has a lot of learning to do. The Bills may have rushed Manuel. Bring Jones along slowly.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Whaley on Manuel: Big and Strong with large hands Whaley on Cardale Jones: Dat arm strength
Talley56 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 No good reason to be upset about this in the 4th round. I like it.
Kirby Jackson Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 it's official Whaley has no clue how to pick QBsHa ha, says the guy that wanted to trade for John Skelton!! Cardale was the guy with a chance to be great. Let's see if he is.
Beerball Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Way too much sniping from both sides of the aisle in this thread. I'm cleaning this thread up so quite a few posts are already gone. I will not look the other way on any garbage following this post.
Dorkington Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 How so? You don't draft Cardale Jones with the last pick in the 4th round to start him. Tyrod is the unquestioned #1 on this team. Cardale was drafted to sit behind him and learn. The writing is now on the wall for EJ Manuel however. I should say a TBD QB controversy.
yungmack Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 He'll be on the 53. No way they expose him to waivers. What I am suggesting is that he will do so poorly that they won't mind exposing him.
Beerball Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 It seems when the Bills evaluate QB's they look at physical size and pretty much nothing else. That's true. If you line up Jones, Manuel and Taylor I'd be hard pressed to tell one from the other.

Reed83HOF Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Tyler Dunne @TyDunne 3m3 minutes ago Good point by Whaley on Cardale Jones: "He doesn't have any muscle memory already ingrained in him that's bad. So we have a piece of clay."
