atlbillsfan1975 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Gerald McCoy, Geno Atkins, John Randle, Suh, Donald, Kyle, Kawaan Short had 11 sacks last year. The quickest way to a QB is right up the middle.[/quote Now that's commonsense
BobChalmers Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Right now Corbin Bryant is a starter in their new conventional 3-4 along with Dareus and Kyle Williams. Hughes and Shaq Lawson are OLB. They needed quality depth at least, and desperately so. I'm sure Jarran Reed was an option for them over Ragland - hopefully Ragland's coverage issues aren't as bad as advertised.
Big Gun Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Needed a safety badly and we take a rotational D-Line player cmon... ...or the faster and more pressure the d line can put on the QB the less need for a stud safety. Just a thought.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 This kind of statement that Rex is calling the shots drives me nuts. They hired Rex more than a year ago. They immediately acquired two quarterbacks, traded a popular LB for a RB, signed a WR in Percy Harvin for $6m, outbid the Fins for a play making TE, signed one of the top FB, signed or drafted two starting OG, and drafted another RB. Oh, and drafted a CB in the second round. Rex was definitely calling all the shots because he wants his guys on defense. But that was last year. Now it's this year.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Post reactions here. I know nothing good or bad about this guy, but just based on measurables I don't get it. For DL he's short and small, where does he fit?
Coach Tuesday Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I know nothing good or bad about this guy, but just based on measurables I don't get it. For DL he's short and small, where does he fit? His combine numbers were horrible...
Dont Stop Billeiving Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Fwiw: http://www.walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2016awashington.php Pretty sure someone on TBD has booed every pick Good call Heitz...just watched the full video at the bottom of this article and it's pretty impressive. Washington gets a sack, a couple really impressive TFLs, and some additional QB hits and hurries. However, more impressive than that is the fact that he lined up next to Bosa and Michigan consistently double teams Washington while leaving only the OT to deal with Bosa. I was expecting offense with our third round pick like most ppl here, but the more I think about and research this guy, I don't mind it...he's super quick and has a rare skillset in terms of interior pass rush ability. Kyle's not getting any younger and we were seriously thin on the D-line before adding Washington...the other added bonus might be that this pick will help Lawson and Ragland perform even better. Adding all three to our front seven should make that group scary again...
starrymessenger Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Billings was there..... Super highly rated NT, don't get why the Bills drafted Washington? I heard he was off our board. Wonder what the problem with him is. Heck of a prospect.
Beerball Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 Whats going on? Hopefully that is the exact thought opposing defenses have when they face the Bills in 2016. (hey, a guy can dream)
YoloinOhio Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Boston Herald did a profile on him as Pats potential pick at 60 http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/patriots/the_blitz/2016/04/patriots_draft_series_ohio_state_dt_adolphus_washington_athletic
26CornerBlitz Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 From Vic Carucci: Going with a defensive tackle in the third round was sensible. Whether Ohio State’s Adolphus Washington was the wise choice there is debatable. Most scouting assessments I’ve heard termed him as “just a guy” and that the Bills might have reached a bit for a player who would have been available in the fourth round and perhaps even lower. Never mind the character concerns created by his arrest for soliciting an undercover officer posing as a prostitute and subsequent suspension from the Fiesta Bowl. The guy hasn’t shown a whole lot as a player to convince multiple talent-evaluators that he has what it takes to make an impact in the NFL. Two of the biggest knocks against him are poor instincts, especially when it comes to reacting to misdirection plays, and inconsistent effort. He’s plenty big (6-3 and 301 pounds) and strong, but doesn’t always show the necessary awareness of what’s happening around him. As a result, he can be taken out of plays, which would figure to happen more often in the NFL. But new Bills defensive line coach John Blake loves Washington and, by most accounts, managed to sell the decision-makers on him. Should they have been as eager as they apparently were to give in? A third-round choice is not a throwaway. The Bills needed some good defensive line depth, but whether Washington can provide it as a big question mark.
Sisyphean Bills Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Consider that the Bills have drafted into the strength of this draft, which was D-line. In years past, they have drafted "against the tide" and taken positional needs in draft classes that were very weak at those positions. Other than a temporary filler, those moves backfired in their face, leaving the Bills going right back again to re-address those holes.
Beerball Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 For me, bad judgement is the bigger issue Yeah, a mistake in judgement for sure. One I'm certain he won't repeat.
Fixxxer Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 He may have fallen on the board because he was suspended for OSU's bowl game for soliciting a vice squad officer in early December. Sounds like Rex's kind of guy. I agree, had he been a Whaley guy, he would have restricted himself to interntet porn only.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 DT Washington another Brick in Bills Defensive Wall Buffalo made Ohio State DT Adolphus Washington their third-round pick Friday night. An up the field penetrator, Washington brings an added dimension to the Bills defensive front.
YoloinOhio Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Take this fwiw but the real reason urban suspended him for the bowl game was not for being arrested for solicitation. It was because he was armed. The gun was registered to him. But that was why. He doesn't allow the players to carry guns per team policy. I know nothing good or bad about this guy, but just based on measurables I don't get it. For DL he's short and small, where does he fit? i would guess 3 technique in passing situations as a rookie, develop into a 3-4DE with good coaching. He's not a finished product but he can help right away in some packages.
eball Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 For me, bad judgement is the bigger issue That's where you hope it's just that he's a kid and will grow up. Having some strong vets in the locker room should help.
YoloinOhio Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Other thing I will add is he was a great HS basketball player in Cincy Edited April 30, 2016 by YoloinOhio
NoSaint Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 But thats the thing. His position isnt really a need. Kyle is in possibly his last year and may not even fit. And we are likely making this not just as a week 1 but long term investment
