Nanker
You guys first problem is your listening to Gruden. I liked him as our coach in Tampa, but he is a media hog. He is very narcissistic, and goes over the top. People give him too much credibility. He's entertaining and I don't mind him on MNF, but he doesn't research out thoroughly all of his comments. The guys I really like who put a lot into their comments are the guys on match up. By the way, I'm fine with the Lawson pic, but if any of you saw the draft series on match up, Hodge was not crazy about Lawson. He showed some examples of how Lawson has to work on his first step, and footwork at the next level. He didn't trash him, just that he wasn't complete yet, and may struggle in the beginning in the NFL. Gruden is the Donald Trump of sportscasters. And that's NOT a political reference, so don't hijack this thread with Trump bashing... PLEASE.
Formerly Allan in MD
Gruden talked about players as they were drafted as if he's done nothing but watch film over and over on all of them. Either he's not being truthful or he has no life.
Augie
Oh, and Gruden is an idiot. Our sons crossed paths on the field, so we got an interesting look at Chuckie. Nothing I liked.
OldTimer1960
Gruden seemed to be the designated "negative" guy on just about every pick. Well before the Bills' pick it seemed pretty obvious that it was his role on the broadcast. He kind of needed that to balance out all the positive fluff he spoke about with all his QBs from his academy. dave mcbride
I'm a ND fan and I knew when Gruden spew that bs out of his mouth he was clueless. Watched the game, the whole game, and Lawson was disruptive the whole time. He may not have had a sack, but he was causing us problems from start to finish. Stanley held his own, but Lawson was still disruptive and made plays. if you think about it, there is no material difference between a sack and a tackle for a loss. 26CornerBlitz
@buffalobills Coming to Ralph Wilson Stadium this fall. #SackLawson @RQUINN619 Shaq had 4 pressures, 5 run disruptions, 3.5 TFL, 3 stuffs vs Stanley.

Marty McFly
In response to all of you, I re-watched that game last nite and Shaq held his own, he also got held on a few plays and they also used double team chip blocks every now and then against him. Stanley is good theres no denying that but, Gruden can shove it. I guess he missed the play where Stanley had to tackle Lawson after a beautiful spin move. https://vine.co/v/iPdQU7Z6xgW Someone posted a link to every snap last night. He was tackled by Stanley for a holding penalty after whipping him for a would be sack with that spin move. He had other good rushes that resulted in rushed incompletions. And collapsed Stanley backward toward the QB on a bull rush a number of times. Also consistent and at times disruptive in the run game. It was a competitive matchup but Shaq represented himself quite well I thought. He more than held his own against the first OLman taken last night and by a GM that knows a thing or two about OTs. ESPN and Gruden were downright spurious in that report. They should have shown the play where Stanley and the LG double-teamed and then tackled him. It was a good, old fashioned slugfest between two great prospects all game. GO BILLS!!! I'm a ND fan and I knew when Gruden spew that bs out of his mouth he was clueless. hondo in seattle
Gruden talked about players as they were drafted as if he's done nothing but watch film over and over on all of them. Either he's not being truthful or he has no life. He has no life. Gruden is in his office watching film by 4am on most days. He obsesses about game tape. Take a look at Dan Pompei's article on the bl--cher report yesterday about Gruden (Inside Jon Gruden's Maniacal Obsession with Football). Gruden probably watches more game tape than any man alive. Any man ever. So much, it's not healthy. Here's an interesting Gruden quote from the article: "I used to hang out with the Jets with Rex Ryan and Bill Callahan and Mike Pettine... I thought that was the best coaching staff I'd ever seen." Edited May 13, 2016 by hondo in seattle

From what I remember about his coaching career, he used aging veteran's much more than draft picks - and especially at qb. Seems like he just wasn't good at evaluating college talent as a coach. I think Gruden said he would have worked as an assistant to Chip Kelly for free, when Chip was at Oregon, just to learn the nuances of that offense. He's a big X's and O's guy. But he also seems to love college QBs - having heavily praised many that did little in the NFL. Perhaps a knowledge of what their game tape looks like from 6 different angles doesn't necessarily translate into an ability to prognosticate NFL success & failure.
